The most significant development during this time came with arrival of railroads;SaintLouisPark became an important railroad terminal due to its location on two key routes:the Missouri River Valley Railroad and the Duluth & Superior Railway (nowMinnesota Central). both lines terminated at SaintLouisPark station before going on to connect with other lines elsewhere in Minnesota and Illinois later on. This also allowed for industry to develop around what is now downtown SaintLouisPark – such as breweries, grocers and millers –all while leaving behind large tracts of open land for farming and grazing near present day Interstate 55 and University Avenue." In addition to its strategic location along two major routes linking distant parts of America, SaintLouisPark also enjoyed high quality education thanks to its many private schools that sprang up throughout the 19th century including Carleton College (later Carleton University), Lutheran Seminary (later Lutheran University) and Wesleyan Academy (later Wesleyan Methodist Episcopal Church). These institutions helped createSaintLouis PARK's reputation as one of America's " richest cities". With so much cultural activity taking place within easy reach – from art galleries lining Cedar Creek Drive all the way down to theaters right next door – it's no wonder that StLouisParks' economy has thrived into recent decades!
