Shoreview, Minnesota has been a shooting hot spot for many years due to its location and some of the best rifle range in the country. The town was founded by Norwegian immigrants in 1874 and still retains much of its Scandinavian culture today. Shoreview is home to two of the largest rifle ranges in the United States, one located on First Avenue North and one on South Third Street. In addition to their own rifle range, Shoreview also has a pistol range that is used by local police departments as well as other shooting organizations. One of the earliest shooters in Shoreview was Ole Hanson who opened his first gun store there in 1876. After a few years, he started selling rifles and shotguns as well. One of Hanson's biggest customers was John Henry Garvey who bought several guns from him before moving to California to become an outlaw leader. Garvey returned to Minnesota and started buying firearms here before eventually settling in St Paul. In 1881, Julius Epps established his own firearms business here which would become one of the most successful gun stores in America at this point. Epps would continue to sell firearms until his death in 1922. During his time here, Epps also developed what is now known as Shoreline Park which is located just east of town on Lake Minnetonka Boulevard. This park features a large hunting ground that was once ringed by fences designed specifically for target practice purposes (today it serves as a public open space). Theodore Roosevelt shot some rounds through an aperture into shoreline picket fence at this spot during a duck hunting trip with Assistant Secretary William Howard Taft back in 1909 (the only such visit by an American president). Eddie Bozeman also visited shoreline during a fishing trip with President Franklin D Roosevelt when he wasoomer chief for New York County back in 1938!

The Shoreview Sentinel, a local newspaper in Shoreview, Minnesota began publication on September 5, 1892. The first issue of the Sentinel was filled with notices of upcoming target practice matches in the town and articles about local schools and events. On October 3rd, 1892, the paper featured an article about a shooting competition being held at the Battle Ground location in Shoreview. On December 12th of that year, the Sentinel published an article about a Shootout at Depot Landing that took place between two gangs of gunmen. In 1904, when it became known as "Shoreview Shootout Day" to honor all those killed or injured during shootouts taking place throughout the town on that day, the paper published pictures and stories from each event. In 1916, when it became known as "Shoreview Daily News", the paper changed its name to "The Shorewood Herald". In 1949-1950 (the years before Hearst Newspapers acquired The Herald), The Herald changed its name back to "The Shorewood Sentinel". On July 1st 1959-1960 (the year before Hearst Newspapers merged with WJZ-TV), The Sentinel merged with WJZ's morning news operation to become one unified media outlet under Hearst's ownership.

Shoreview is a town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,871 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and the larger Twin Cities–Saint Paul metropolitan area. Shoreview is located on the shore of Lake Minnetonka, about northeast of downtown Minneapolis and just east of Saint Paul. The first permanent settler in what would become Shoreview was Levi Coffin on land that he purchased from the government in 1854. He named his new community after himself, but it did not take off until 1875 when developer John Prentice built a mill there that became one of the most important economic engines in Shorewood's history. In 1886, Jens Jensen bought a majority interest in Prentice's mill and developed it into one of the largest cotton mills in America with a workforce of up to 2,500 people working shifts around the clock. The mill closed operations in 1984 but has been preserved as an exposition center and museum called "Jensen Mill" since 1992. In 1916, two brothers – Harry Kapp and Ralph Kapp – founded First National Bank which still operates out of its original building on Main Street today (renowned for its delicious onion soup). Harry Kapp also served as mayor from 1951-1957 and 1957-1965; during his term he spearheaded several development projects including creating Shorewood Park which now includes several miles of waterfront walkable beachfront property as well as retail buildings and restaurants dating back to 1925 Ocean Drive Mall which was then known as "Third Avenue." Ida Larson became headmistress at Shorewood School District No 1 (later Shoreline) in 1924 after serving as assistant superintendent for three years at North Side High School; she led the school district through many changes including enrolling students by bus from surrounding districts during World War II while also providing leadership for developing shoreline parklands into what are now some Of Minnesota' most popular tourist destinations! In 1971 she retired after more than fifty years service... Ida Larson remains an icon within our community to this day!

Shoreview was a small town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, located on the shore of Lake Superior. The population was 4,490 at the 2000 census. It is now a ghost town and community within Shoreview Township in Minnesota. The first permanent settler in what is now Shoreview was Daniel Ellsbury, who arrived in 1824 from New England. He platted and built a log cabin on the site where he erected his sawmill and grist mill. In 1830, Ellsbury married Sarah Weir, also from New England. They had four children: Daniel (1831-1910), Martha (1833-1911), Hannah (1835-1920) and John (1837-1900). In 1848, Drury removed remainder of his family to what is today Minneapolis after purchasing land along County Road 6 near present day Hastings Heights Mall. His wife Rachel followed him there three years later. The following year they founded their own community – Griggs Landing – on what is now Coal River Beach Road north of downtown Minneapolis. During prohibition years in Minnesota, Shoreview became an important stop for liquor traffic due to its close proximity to Lake Minnetonka and its easy access to water supplies for brewing beer and distilling whiskey. By 1925, only one resident remained: Milt Hennigar, who ran the Hotel Griggs which still stands on Coal River Beach Road today. Katherine McCormick began her business career as awaitress at Griggs Landing before moving to Chicago in 1942 to become owner/operator of McCormick's steak house there before returning home during World War II as Military Intelligence Officer with Headquarters European Theater Command staff member US Army Air Forces HQ level 5 command post located at Griggs Landing - providing air combat intelligence support over Europe between 1943 - 1945 while stationed at RAF Northolt flying Spitfires during Operation Overlord 1944 when Allied forces liberated Europe from Nazi occupation

In 1851, the town of Shoreview was organized and laid out. The community had a post office from 1853 until 1907. The first settler in Shoreview was David Cook. He built a cabin on what is now the east side of Main Street in 1855. A store and school were built in 1865, and a cemetery was established in 1884. The town got its name from the shoreline to the south, which can be seen from many parts of town. In 1886, a mill was built on what is now SW corner of Main and Washington Streets, and it soon became one of the most important businesses in Shoreview. In 1911, an electric light plant was built on what is now SE corner of Washington and Main Streets; this made Shoreview one of the first towns in Minnesota to have electricity.
