Shoreview is a town in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The population was 1,717 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Shoreview is best known as being home to Shorewood Shooting Park, which has been hosting matches since 1892, and for its annual Oktoberfest celebration that attracts over 100,000 people each year. Shorewood Shooting Park originally opened in 1892 as a rifle range on what is now Shorewood Boulevard in Shoreview. In 1906, it became a handgun range and then an airgun range before becoming a shooting park in 1992 when it acquired its current name from the nearby shoreline of Lake Superior National Lakeshore. The park offers ranges for all types of firearms including shotguns, rifles, pistols and machineguns; hunting opportunities are available for both deer and turkey; there are also picnicking/festival facilities such as an amphitheater and grills for hire (in addition to picnic areas with bathrooms). A variety of events are held throughout the year including target shootings (seasonal), fishing tournaments (year-round), dog show/ agility trials, car races etc., many of which have become signature events among locals and visitors alike. The townspeople of Shoreview have long enjoyed organized sports – first experiencing hockey during the early years when teams played out on open fields near Main Street (now University Avenue). Later they turned their attention to baseball but this sport too only lasted until 1907 due to lack of opportunity onshore while shipyards were busy processing steel shipments coming into town from abroad. Basketball followed suit in 1909 after instruction was received from schoolteachers who were playing at Minneapolis’s Washington High School gymnasium where local business men had gathered to watch games played by students from neighboring towns like Maple Grove and Brooklyn Center respectively - these games featured players such as future NBA Hall-of-Famer Julius Erving who attended Washington High School just north of downtown Minneapolis! Hockey would eventually take root again in Shoreview following moves by community members towards ice skating on winter days when there wasn’t room at the rink near Main Street which served as the original village green until 1916! In 1911 local businessmen Harry Fenton & Captured Heinrich founded Harbor Ironworks adjacent to where modern day 4th St & University Ave meets today - Harbor Iron Works manufactured Liberty Shipsbuilding items used by Minnesota's Great Lakes freighters beginning in 1915 until their final retirement in 1969! This company left behind a lasting legacy with employees still working at Harbor Iron Works today providing finished articles like piping & hardware needed for boat construction! harbor ironWorks also contributed significantly towards developing what we know today as Weiser Dam - opening up new possibilities for maritime transportation & industry along Lake Superior's eastern edge!! The late Harry Fenton himself once stated "If I could give back something I would be very grateful...Harbor Ironworks gave me my love affair with boats!" What began as just another small shop quickly grew into one of Twinsports most significant achievements - responsible for creating more than 2 million metric tons (more than any other single business) worth freight shipped through Weiser Dam during its heyday!!! Today Harbour Iron Works remains imploringly active helping contribute importantly yet quietly back home across Lake Superior - providing employment opportunities not only within their walls but also outside their boundaries!!

Shoreview is a small town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,880 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Shoreview was founded in 1892 and incorporated as a village in 1908. It became a town in 1950. The name comes from the sound of waves on the shoreline. The community began as a small fishing village on the west side of Lake Minnetonka near what is now Hastings Avenue and Interstate 35W. In 1892, entrepreneur John Aitken bought land east of town for $1,000 and founded Shoreview Village, Inc., with his wife Nellie Aitken as its first treasurer and first president. The new village had no electricity or water but boasted an ice cream parlor, library, post office and two churches – First Presbyterian (founded 1911) and Methodist (founded 1916). In 1908, when Shoreview Township was established to encompass all of present-day Ramsey County except for one tiny corner south of Rochester City Limits on the border with Stroudsburg Borough (later renamed Mankato), Aitken donated 4 acres southeast of his original land lot to become its first township center – also known today as South Shore Drive – which would become home to many local businesses including Thompson’sCafeteria (1935), Sears Roebuck & Co.'s Washburn Division Store (1936), Hoffman Grain Elevator (1940) and Pillsbury Company's Floral Department Headquarters Building (1987). As time passed residents purchased additional properties within Riverwood Heights subdivision off US 36 just north of I- 35W until by 1922 there were 10 villages/townships within Ramsey County: South Shore Drive 9; North Shore Drive 12; Brighton Beach Road 6; Harbor Heights 5; Eastshore Dr 3; Birch Grove 2; Bloomfield Ave 1). By 1930 there were 16 villages/townships within Ramsey County: South Shore Drive 11; North Shore Drive 13; Brighton Beach Road 8; Harbor Heights 6; Eastshore Dr 3 ; Birch Grove 2 ; Bloomfield Ave 1 ). The communities along southern shoreline such as Hastings Avenue Extension that bordered upon Riverwood Heights development continued to flourish even after electric service became available in 1925 through municipally owned power companies such as Republic Power & Light Company while other rural areas without municipally owned power experienced difficulties obtaining power or being served at all until 1968 when PL&L acquired Republic Power & Light company becoming MNPower Corporation which continues this services today albeit with some privatizations during recent years including those associated with MNsure subsidiary Xcel Energy . Today most people living in townships are commuters who work outside their homes although some stay close by enjoying their personal touches like independent grocery stores or libraries located inside lakeshore subdivisions . There are currently plans underway for expanding high school enrollment into these areas although it remains unclear if this will ever happen due to tight budgets

Mayo and his brother John Mayo as an agricultural community on the left bank of the Saint Croix River near present-day Hastings and Maplewood streets east of downtown Minneapolis. The name "Shoreview" originated from local Scots Gaelic words meaning "the height of land." From its early days, Shore View was known for its fine flour mills and other products made from corn, wheat, oats, sorghum and other grains grown in the area. The town also became well known for its excellent fishing (particularly walleye) and boating opportunities on the Mississippi River. In 1912, one year after Minneapolis incorporated as a city, Shore View elected to become an official city within that new jurisdiction; it remains one of only a few municipalities in Minnesota to do so. In 1916, when Interstate 40 was built through central Minnesota linking Minneapolis with St Paul via two bridges over the Saint Croix River (one over Snelling Avenue), Shore View saw increased development because motorists had to cross multiple rivers just to get into their cities! By 1951, when Interstate 94 opened up what is nowMinnesota's largest interior highway network - making it possible for more people even to live scattered around rural areas - much of Shore View's original commercial development had long disappeared or been replaced by newer buildings located outlying on smaller roads throughout Ramsey County facing open fields bordering Duluth and Superior lakeside townships across Lakeshore Drive from which visitors could take boat ramps leading directly into Superior National Forest headquarters off Highway 20 about four miles northeast of town limits - making this entire district today home mainly to retirement communities established along Lake Minnetonka Bargain Woods Road stretching northward along Hwy 169 about 12 miles northwest from town limits - dwarfing any remaining agricultural production in what once constituted shoreline villages situated along both shores ofSaintCroixRiver including some still operating as retail stores selling items such as clothing and farm supplies dating back more than 150 years

The city of Shoreview was founded on August 12, 1857, by the merger of two small settlements. The first town, Shoreview Heights, was established in 1851 and the second town, Wadena, was founded in 1853. The City of Shoreview was chartered on August 12, 1857 and became a municipal division of Minneapolis on December 15th of that year.
