Shoreview is a town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 4,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1854 by Methodists and others as a small farming community on the shore of Lake Minnetonka. In 1888, it became a separate municipality with its own government and police department. Shoreview's first school was built in 1895 and its first post office opened in 1897. The town growth accelerated during Prohibition in 1919 when many farmers moved to the new state of Minnesota because they could not drink alcohol while their homes were subject to state regulation. In 1984, Shoreview established itself as an industrial center with heavy manufacturing and defense businesses such as Ullman Department Store, Allis-Chalmers Corporation, and Lockheed Martin Missile Systems Division among its residents. However, these businesses have all since disappeared or been closed down; most of what remains today are retail stores or service businesses like Verizon Wireless and Ford Motor Company dealership locations. On November 3rd, 2008 at 6:01 pm local time ShoreVIEW reported that one person had been shot dead inside a home within their borders

Shoreview is a small town in the US state of Minnesota. The population was 5,531 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Ramsey County. Shoreview was founded in 1871 by Danish immigrants and has been called "the most Scandinavian-American community on the Great Lakes." The name comes from two places: one meaning "shore" and one meaning "highland". The first settlers in Shoreview were Norwegian men who had come to work on a railroad. In 1872, they started a school for their children. A few years later, they built a gristmill and store. In 1875, they added a blacksmith shop and post office. By 1886, they had built four churches: one Presbyterian, one Lutheran, one Methodist, and one Baptist. In 1895, Shoreview became part of the metropolitan area of Minneapolis-Saint Paul. This made it easier for people to get to work in both cities. In 1907, they got their own hospital - which still operates today - and began selling gasoline and other products to neighboring townships. They also began building their own schools: One Protestant (1912), One Catholic (1915), Two African American (1927), One Jewish (1929). During World War II, Shoreview helped build munitions plants near Duluth so that America could produce war materials needed by Europe. In 1957, Shoreline merged with neighboring town of Maplewood to form what is now known as Ramsey County Government Center – home to many government departments including jails and courts; as well as several libraries throughout the county including the Vikings Stadium Library located adjacent to the courthouse complex where court cases are Heard.]
