Shoreview is a small town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The first European to visit what is now Shoreview was Jean Nicolet, who on his trip from Quebec stopped at the present day intersection ofactual and imaginary roads in 1809. In 1837, the United States Congress created the Township of Shoreview out of parts of two other townships: one east of present day Hennepin Avenue and one west of it. The new township had a population of only nineteen people when it was organized on July 4, 1837. In 1853, an act was passed by the Minnesota Territorial Legislature authorizing an appropriation for building a school in Shoreview Township. The appropriation allowed for construction to begin on what would become Maplewood Elementary School today; however due to financial constraints, only three classrooms were built and service began no later than September 1st,1854. On October 12th same year (the date that Griggs Act became law), a second appropriation enabled shoreviewschool board to purchase land along Lacrosse Road from the Minnesota state government for $2 per acre (approximately $40 per km²). A third appropriation in 1861 enabled construction work on additional classrooms at Maplewood Elementary School to resume; this time all six classrooms were built and service started on November 5th 1865 On March 2nd 1870,Minnesota Statehood occurred resulting in Shoreview's incorporation as a city within Minneapolis . On May 25th 1898 by an act approved by both houses of the State Legislature , Shoreline City Limits were established defining boundaries between Minneapolis proper and various neighborhoods within it including western Twin Cities neighborhoods like Edina which bordered Lake Calhoun while eastern Bloomington bordered Shoreview proper It should be noted that most residents currently living outside city limits identify themselves as either "city resident" or "town resident." This may be because most businesses located inside city limits are incorporated into larger businesses located outside city limits such as Comcast or Target while smaller businesses located inside city boundaries tend not to have such incorporation
