Shoreview, Minnesota is a small town located on the west side of the St. Croix River in Ramsey County. The population was 1,850 at the 2000 census. It is home to a number of gun shops and ranges as well as a library and post office. Shoreview has been a center for gun security since at least the early 1900s. Shoreview, Minnesota was founded in 1887 by a group of white men who were looking for a place to business. The town was named after the Shores of Lake Michigan, which are located about 20 miles north of Shoreview. The first settlers were gentlemen farmers who grew corn, wheat and other crops. In 1902, Shoreview joined the city of Minneapolis and became a suburb. In 1955, Shoreview was merged with the neighboring village of Westville to form the current city of Shoreview.

In 1868, the first white settlers in Shoreview Township arrived. The township was organized on April 3, 1868. The first post office was established in Shoreview on October 10, 1869. On November 17, 1870, the first school in Shoreview Township was opened by the board of trustees. In 1915, a dam was constructed to help manage water resources for the township. The first sheriff of Shoreview Township was Capt. John Dickey on January 1, 1886. On February 8, 1912, a fire destroyed most of what is now known as "Dickey's Dam". Afterward, a new dam was built at nearby Cedar Rapids and named after Capt. John Dickey Jr.. On May 15th of that year, Sgt. Julius Kapp from Illinois came to town with some goods and started a grocery store at 5191 Sherman Ave., which would become one of the most important businesses in town until it closed down in 1984 due to economic conditions. In 1922/23 an all female high school called Brookdale School opened up near where current day First Presbyterian Church stands today. In 1928/29 an addition to First Presbyterian Church (now known as "Shore View United Methodist")was built.
On November 20th 1929 residents of Shoreview Township voted authorizing annexation by Minneapolis County. By 1951 when this map was created there were only 189 residents living within the boundaries of Shoreline Township.

The last resident to leave their belongings behind died on December 30th 1992.
