Shoreview is a town in Shorewood Township, Minneapolis County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 992 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Shore View was platted in 1854 by German immigrants who named it after their farmstead on Lake Monee which they had seen from a distance while fishing there. The first post office was established in 1857 and was called Easton because of its location east of what is now West Side streets on the edge of present-day Shoreview Heights. In 1865, the name was changed to Shorewood because of encroachment by other towns on its borders (Easton to the north and west, Shorewood to the south). The first school in Shoreview opened in 1864 when Oneida School District #2 located two miles west of town on Mound Road became insolvent and needed pupils for its new building. The first principal was Dr. George Wohlgemuth whose daughter taught there for one year before moving to another district. A second schoolhouse also served as home for grades 1-6 until 1889 when a larger frame structure replaced it due to fire hazard concerns (the original house still stands today). In 1875, John Aiken donated land bounded by First Street Northeast and Interstate 94 east of downtown to become what is now Mounds Park Cemetery next door to his farmstead originally known as Valley View Cemetery (now part of Zimmerman Park). When Oneida School District #2 merged with de facto public schools that were organized into districts throughout Ramsey County during 1895-96, Shore View Elementary School became part of Anoka-Hennepin High School and remain so ever since; however even though it shares campus space with Hennepin's high school nowadays (it used to be an all girl high school), girls have not been allowed onto its main campus since1971! In 1911, following annexation by Minneapolis city limits from Stittsville Township within Minneapolis County, shore view incorporated as a town under laws passed by the Minnesota Legislature at that time which specifically exempted towns from city zoning ordinances altogether! However this incorporation never happened due largely to lack of support from local business owners who saw no benefit whatsoever other than increased taxes they were already paying anyway! That same year saw the opening of shoreline's first store - John Smerdon & Brothers Hardware - at Second Street northeast corner Main Avenue just past Present day Lyndale Avenue designation change from "Milwaukee" avenue in honor then Milwaukee Mayor Chris Abele's donation $10K+ towards plaza renovation project! In 1916 both shoreside High Schools choir director Mrs Moorhead and German teacher Mrs Kapp founded Nordstrom Elementary School where students experienced traditional music education up until 1924 when eugenics/scientific racism led discontinuing instruction; however despite attempts over many years finally terminating classes completely around 1970 some Nordstrom alumni continue gracing our community halls annually during choral performances celebrating their memories each cultural diversity event weekend starting every September now including recent events Twin Cities History Festival & International Folk Music Festival Held simultaneously here every year

Airguns became less popular because they could not be fired from those platforms directly; instead, they had to be fired from a distance using a gunpowder projectile or mortar

Shoreview also produced lumber and other goods during the early 20th century. In 1934, the United States Navy leased land near Shoreview to build its first Naval Air Station. The station served as a training ground for naval aviation students and commanders. The Navy moved out of Shoreview in 1946 and the town slowly declined over the next few decades. By 2000, only a few houses remained in Shoreview and most of the businesses had been closed down or sold off. But something miraculous happened: A group of people decided to start a community development organization called SHOREVIEW MINNESOTA (SHOREVIEW COUNCIL), which would work to revitalize Shoreway and keep it alive as a thriving community. In 1848, a group of farmers from Shoreview and West St. Paul began to homestead on land that includes the present day town of Shoreview. The first settler in what is now Shoreview was John Bigham, who arrived in 1849. By 1860, there were ten settlers living in Shoreview. In 1870, the town of Shoreview was organized when a group of farmers from both towns jointly donated 640 acres to become a township. The first mayor of Shoreview was George Wohlgemuth and the first justice of the peace was Jesse Prentice. In 1907, the name of the town changed to Lake after it became adjacent to Lake Minnetonka Regional Park.
