Savage is a small town in Minnesota, located about 20 miles northeast of Minneapolis. The population as of the 2010 census was 7,569. The name "Savage" comes from the Dakota Sioux word for "place where there are no buffalo." The first settler in the area was John Dennison, who arrived in 1868. By 1902, there were only 5 residents living in Savage. In 1907, the railroad arrived and began serving the town; itched to move away from its smaller neighbor but couldn't because of its own tracks running through Savage's core. The townsfolk banded together and built a new school and clinic on State Highway 6 near what is now downtown Savage. In 1953, Savage voters approved a $15 million bond issue to build a new high school and football stadium which was dedicated in 1957. The old high school burned down in 1984 and was never rebuilt. Today, the town still has its original two schools: one for elementary students (grades K-8) and one for middle/junior high students (9-12). When I moved to Savage back in 2006 it felt like an entirely new world had been created - everything that used to be just out of reach or too expensive had finally become available here! And boy am I glad I got my hands on some land here! Not only does this place have plenty of natural beauty but also some amazing opportunities for grazing livestock – something that’s really important when trying to keep up with today’s technology! Savage, Minnesota is a small town located in the far northwest corner of Minnesota. The population was 3,036 at the 2000 census. The area now known as Savage was once part of the Dakota Territory and was founded by Norwegian immigrants in 1858. In 1865, it became a county seat of Cass County. In 1898, it became a city and has since grown to be one of the most populous towns in the region. The early settlers were farmers and trail blazers who left Norway for economic reasons during the Gold Rush era. They brought with them their livestock, tools, knowledge and enterprise that helped give Savage its start as an agricultural center. By 1907, Savage had become one of the largest textile producers in Minnesota. It also developed into a commercial center for government services and businesses such as banks, hotels and manufacturers of agricultural supplies such as feedstocks for ethanol production. The 20th century saw many changes to Savage's economy including World War II when it served as an airfield for American forces conducting operations in Europe; then-Governor Nelson A. Malloy declared control over the town from Minneapolis on November 1st 1947; growth following statehood led to budget overruns which caused several stores to close; then-Mayor James Pugh vetoed plans by City Council members to annex adjoining neighborhoods because they felt too much development would occur without input from residents; later approval allowed annexation but only after public outcry led Mayor Pugh to veto allocating $1 million dollars towards new development within radius of old city limits while keeping funding available for community services including parks, libraries and youth sports facilities; finally zoning laws changed so that restrictive housing covenants could no longer be enforced which resulted in increased property values around town core while reducing access to quality homes outside urban areas
