Sartell is a small town located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The population was 1,544 at the 2010 census, making it the smallest community in Ramsey County. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and is adjacent to Bloomington, Illinois. The first settler in Sartell was David Sartell, who purchased land from the Dakota Sioux in 1851. The current settlement dates back to 1887 when Jens Pohlmeyer built a sawmill on what is now Main Street and Court Avenue. A post office called Sartell was established in 1892, and remained in operation until 1959. In 1916, Sartell had its first grocery store and began to grow as a bedroom community for Minneapolis-St. Paul residents working at nearby factories or businesses such as Ford Motor Company and General Motors plants on Lyndale Avenue near Green Lake/Washington Boulevard (now Hennepin Boulevard). In 1949, John Ladd opened his motel/hotel on West Main Street which became one of Sartells most popular tourist attractions during that era thanks to its views of downtown Minneapolis and State Capitol building across Lyndale Avenue from the hotel's lobby into Government Plaza. After an unsuccessful attempt by developers to build a shopping mall on Wabasha Road east of town site (then part of Brooklyn Park), plans were revived in 1984 for a large complex consisting of office tower, housing units, restaurant/bars/nightlife venues etc., but never came to fruition due to opposition from local residents including many who lived within walking distance of the proposed development site; this issue remains unresolved even today through various protests by residents opposing any new developments within walking distance of their homes or schools

Sartell is a city in Anoka County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 9,545 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis–St.Paul metropolitan area. Sartell was founded in 1881 by Danish immigrants as an agricultural community on a site called Cottonwood Prairie. The town developed into a commercial center with a heavy concentration of agriculture and manufacturing until the early 21st century when new businesses began to emerge in information technology and professional services. In recent years, however, Sartell has seen its population decline as a result of suburbanization and retirements among its working-class residents. Sartell was founded on April 12, 1881 by Danish immigrants who arrived in what is now Anoka County from Hennepin County (now Minneapolis). They named their settlement after their former home village of Sætherup in Zealand (today's Ålesund municipality), which they had visited while on their way to America. The first settler in Sartell was Rasmus Thisted who platted the town on November 3rd, 1881 using land that he had purchased from John Nicolay Munk". The first store opened up at 6 Masonic Lane on December 1st, 1881 by Jens Hansen and his brother Auguste Hansen; it became the start of what would become one of Sartell's most important economic sectors: farming and ranching became more important after railways came through the area connecting North Dakota with South Dakota and Minnesota statewide; this change led to an increase in demand for goods manufactured withinMinnesota rather than imported from other states or countries. By 1902 there were 11 grocery stores open alongwith two banks providing banking services for farmers and ranchers; four post offices operated between 1901-1902 including one serving as the first mail service from America to Sweden servicing Swedes living near Chicago through mail coming eastbound via Amsterdam..
