Sartell, Minnesota is a small town located in Ramsey County, Minnesota. The population of Sartell was 531 at the 2010 census. The first settler in what is now Sartell was John A. Sartell in 1851. He and his wife, Emma, founded the town on a tract of land they purchased from the Hennepin County Commissioners. Sartell was incorporated as a village on October 15, 1892. On February 17, 1907, it became a city when it amalgamated with neighboring Heightsboro. As of the 2010 census, Sartell had a population of 612 people. The original settlers who founded Sartell were John A. Sarton and his wife Emma; their children included Edward (1851-1907), Inez (1853-1937), Nannie (1857-1945), and James (1859-1935). The first school in what is now SARTELL opened its doors to students on October 15th, 1892: "A Schoolhouse for All." Reverend Ira Whitehead served as the first pastor of First Presbyterian Church until he resigned due to ill health in 1893; Reva Purdy took over that role until her death in 1917. Reverend Whitehead's successor Duncan Wright taught at the church for one year before being replaced by Drury Withers who also left due to illness before long having only an eight month stay in office because of it following an assassination attempt on him which failed when he grabbed onto his horse's bridle during horseback riding without saddle instead of grabbing onto its mane which would have been fatal if successful).
