Sartell is a small town in the state of Minnesota. The population was 5,604 at the 2010 census. It is located in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and is part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Sartell is known for its agriculture, with crops such as corn, soybeans, and wheat being grown there. Additionally, cattle are raised in the community and some products exported to other states. The first settler in Sartell was Jacob Hendrix who arrived in 1851. He named his land "Sartell" after his hometown of Sarton, France. Hendrix's brother John married Anna Maria Lueders from nearby Red Wing and they began farming there in 1854. In 1870 their daughter Emma married David Sibley from Ocala, Florida who had also settled near Maple Grove on the edge of what is now Hennepin County. They continued to farm together until David's death in 1902; Emma then took over management of the farm until her death in 1944. The first school was built at Sartell Township Hall on October 27th, 1865 by David Lueders Sr.. Classes were taught by private teachers until it opened its doors to public schools on May 1st, 1876 under Superintendent Abram Jenson Jr.. The first principal was Mrs A G Dowling who served from 1886-1892; sheforestalled an integration program that would have eliminated different gradeschools within Ramsey county The opening of State High School (now Albertson Junior/Senior High School) made SARTELL THE FIRST COMMUNITY IN Ramsey COUNTY TO HAVE PUBLIC SCHOOLS In 1916 Dr M F Everson became superintendent after serving as assistant superintendent for instruction at State High School Mrs A G Dowling returned as Principal on July 1st following Dr M F Everson's retirement On November 14th 1918 Mrs A G Dowling passed away suddenly leaving behind two children: Edwin Vann (1911-1974), wife of retired educator Vernon Vann (1920-1998), and Nancy Jane Vann (1915-2002). Edwin succeeded his mother as Principal which lasted until 1951 when he too passed away suddenl

The economy changed again after 9/11 when large numbers of high-paying jobs disappeared as companies relocated away fromMinnesota due Вto terrorism threats."During these years there were few opportunities for residents or tourists to experience what life was like outside of shopping malls or downtown areas," Wehner said."This has been particularly true since 2005 when Sartell lost many big businesses that lefttown because they could no longer compete with larger cities such as Minneapolis or St Paul."Today however some new businesses have sprung up around town such as Waffle House which has helped revive downtown area."

Selkirk had also passed through Sartell on his way southward from Canada to Mexico City on his ill-fated De la Garde Expedition in 1827-28 which failed to find any new land beyond what he had already explored in North America east of Lake Superior In 1905, Dinky Dink's restaurant opened in downtown Sartell and quickly became one of the most popular places for locals and tourists to enjoy food and laughs together during summer months around lakefront beer gardens like The Gilded Cage or Crystal Caverns that were popular among local families until they closed down around 1960 due mostly to budget constraints caused by suburban development near the lakeshore
