Sartell is a small town in the state of Minnesota. The population was 5,503 at the 2000 census. It is located in Hennepin County. The community was founded on December 4, 1854, by Swedish immigrants. Sartell is one of the oldest towns in Hennepin County and has been part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area since its incorporation as a municipality on November 3, 1881. The first settler in Sartell was Elias Lapp who arrived in 1854 with his family from Sweden. Lapp built a log cabin on what is now North Main Street and named it Sartell after his home country of Sweden. Other early settlers included John Anderson (1855), Isaac Boger (1856), Wilhelm Wessels (1858), George Weise (1859), Peter Schultze (1860) and August Strandberg (1862). In 1865, Charles Fisk arrived from Norway with his family and named the community after himself, Fisklandia onamia which means "Fisk land". In 1876, Danish immigrants Jens Hansen and Peder Pedersen bought land near present day Mississippi Avenue and set up a farm called " strandværkstedet ". This farm became known for its annual Rasmus Rasmusen festival during July/August which featured music, artesan horsemanship demonstrations and large fairgrounds where goods could be sold tax free. In 1880, Norwegian immigrants Oscar Nordby and Gustav Kjøller purchased land northeast of present day Sartell from Danish farmers Ole Nielsen and Peder Rasmussen for $1 per acre . They set about building a farmstead called Nordbygaard which still stands today across from Stateline Park . The first store in Sartell opened its doors on January 1st 1881 when Aarne Haglund opened the Haglund's grocery store at 222 Broadway . Sartell had two schools by 1888: Storstad school for grades one through twelve operated by Anna Haglund until it closed in 1902 because enrollment dropped below 10 students; then Sophora school operated by Mrs Smith until 1912 when it also closed due to low enrollment; then only First Grade classes were offered at Nordbygaard until 1915 when money became available to build new classrooms which later became Second Grade classrooms before finally closing down completely in 1916 due to lack of funds once again leaving behind an unused classroom block that served as an open air museum between 1912-1975

Sartell is a small town in Hibbing, Minnesota. It was founded in 1881 by Irish immigrants, and has been home to the Sartell School District since its establishment. The town also served as the site of a United States Army encampment during World War I. Sartell is located on the eastern edge of Hibbing, just east of Highway 7. The town was first settled by chalet builders who arrived in 1871 from Ireland. In 1881, Sartell became the site of a small post office and school district that included neighboring villages of Hibbing and Wanatopa. By 1905, however, many residents had decided to move away from their original location because of poor soil conditions and sparse population growth. In 1916, the US military established an encampment at Sartell for soldiers returning from World War I. A fire destroyed most of the buildings in 1925 within one year of its ignition; this caused some irreparable damage to both the town's infrastructure and local history which has never been fully repaired or replaced since then. In 1951, when Hibbing city consolidated with other municipalities under state government control, Sartell became part of its new jurisdiction. The following year saw significant development within the community as three large shopping malls were constructed adjacent to downtown Hibbing; these helped revive interest in downtown businesses and contribute to a overall positive economic outlook for Sartell over that decade-long period.
