In 1957, when bullets were becoming increasingly scarce due to wartime restrictions on arms exports, the plant closed its doors permanently but it has since been reborn as a museum dedicated to ammo history. There are now more than 20 million rounds of ammunition from various manufacturers stored at the plant dating back to 1887!

The town's main thoroughfare winds through rolling hills that lead to rural farmland on either side of the river below. There are several churches located throughout the town including one which has been called "the only Methodist church west of Stroudsburg." The first school in Sartell opened in 1874 which eventually became a high school before being closed in 1966 due to lack of students and funding opportunities. In 1973, a new high school was built which still serves as its primary educational institution today In 1984, Sartell joined other towns within Minneapolis-St Paul's city limits when that municipality merged with its larger neighbor to form one large citywide entity. Today, many aspects of daily life within Sartell are coordinated through City Hall where meeting rooms are used for various civic meetings as well as City Council meetings where policies affecting residents are debated or voted upon by all members present during regular session rather than just those attending special sessions convened pursuant to specific agenda items or requests from legislators or members thereof
