In the early 20th century, Roseville was a thriving agricultural town in the heart of Minnesota. The town’s farmers grew corn, wheat, and other crops and used rifles to hunt game. A rifle scopes company was started in 1916 by three men from Roseville – George Henson, Harry McKay, and John Gorman. The company made rifles and scopes for military use and sold them to farmers throughout the Midwest. In 1925, the company merged with another rifle scopes company to form American Rifle Scopes Company. American Rifle Scopes continued making rifles and scopes into the late 20th century.
Roseville is a small town in the Minnesota state of Minnesota. The population was 6,724 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bloomington-Normal Metropolitan Statistical Area. Roseville is located about 19 miles (30 km) east of Minneapolis and 18 miles (29 km) west of Saint Paul. The first settler in Roseville was George Prentice, who arrived in 1854. The town was platted on December 8, 1858, by commissioners from Duluth and Superior counties.[2] A post office called "Roseville" was established in 1865,[3] and remained in operation until it closed on September 15, 1969. In 1902, a group of farmers organized as the Flour Belt Farmers' Association to promote wheat marketing around the Twin Cities area. They bought 3 acres (1 ha) near what is now downtown Roseville for $8 per acre ($140/ha). With other members they started a flour mill that year and began turning out high-quality flour for local markets. In 1907 they purchased an additional 3 acres (1 ha), becoming one of the largest landowners in Rosesville history.[4][5] They increased their production to 5 million bushels (27 tons) a year by 1920,[6][7] but declined due to difficult economic times during World War I and II[8][9][10]. In 1945 they sold their land to John Fenton who founded Galesburg Creamery which continues today as one of Twins Cities' leading retail businesses with over 125 employees worldwide including distribution center and manufacturing operations inside Galesburg Creamery's former corporate building on Monroe Street NE in Roseville. In 1978 Microsoft moved its headquarters from Seattle, Washington to Cambridge, Massachusetts after 25 years in Seattle; their longtime processor there had been struggling since divestiture from Kay Griggs & Co., Inc., parent company of Microsoft Corporation.[11] The company offered no resistance when its lease expired; instead it leased back 50% ownership of its old corporate building where it continued processing personal computer records under new name Dataquest until 2000 when it merged with IBM Jones Packard Plastics Company[12], ending Processor's reign as Minnesota's largest data handler outside Seattle through Procter & Gamble.[13][14]:433 Microlite also leases space here from Procter& Gamble while still performing some processed activities such as sorting clothes into colors according to weight using conveyor belts

In 1854, John Howells founded a town called Roseville on land he purchased from Chief Red Cloud for $100. The first post office opened in 1855 and named it after his wife, Rosalie Howells. By 1860, there were twenty-three buildings in what is now Roseville with a population of about sixty people. In 1865–1866 Josiah Hawkinson built a sawmill on White Lake adjacent to what is now downtown Roseville. The mill continued until 1870 when it shut down due to low demand for lumber from farmers in Illinois and Wisconsin; however, it left an lasting legacy by being one of the earliest businesses in town that did not close its doors due to technological advances such as steam power (the first electric plant was established here). Hawkinson's son Julius kept running the mill until 1955 when it was sold to Allis Chalmers Corporation which closed it down several years later due to economic difficulties during World War IIhey produced goods for military use only before closing again during peacetime times When asked about his father's business closure these days many locals still remember going into their dad's shop every day afterschool just to pick up some new tools or parts he had been working on back then During prohibition era alcohol was available only through licensed establishments like speakeasies However local citizens made do with whatever homebrew they could get their hands on which led eventually to organized crime elements taking control over local liquor stores On July 15 1918 Licensing Board decisions regarding beer sales at speakeasies were appealed by Mayor Woldemar Sonnenberg who ran for office against Prohibition candidate Harry Laughlin but lost In November 1918 mayor Sonnenberg decided against appealing any more board decisions since he felt that prohibition would continue anyway After months of public pressure residents voted overwhelmingly (by referendum) not to allow any more breweries open within city limits although they allowed plenty of taverns instead Over time this policy slowly changed becoming less Restrictive With repeal came an end to statewide prohibition allowing pharmacists To sell alcoholic drinks They did so until 1970 when state law reverted backTo pre-prohibition levels This period marked another growth spurt for downtown RosesVILLE with bothhene commercial development ground breaking such as Northwestern Mutual Tower opening in 1924 followed by Sears Roebuck & Co.'s distribution headquarters moved from Anoka Avenue into what is now First National Bank Plaza five years later becoming one ofMinnesota's first skyscrapers Additionally Steeves Electric Company founded here commenced making alternating current electricity available locally This marks beginningof modern electrical infrastructure here today
