The history of firearms in Rosemount, Minnesota goes back to the early 1800s. A post office was established in 1853 and soon after began receiving shipments of rifles, shotguns and pistols from America. The townspeople were able to purchase these firearms legally thanks to a loophole in the law that allowed guns to be imported without a license. This practice continued until 1871 when the state legislature passed a bill banning importation of any type of gun. The ban had a large impact on the community as many residents turned to personal firearms for protection. In response, Rosemount began purchasing firearms from American dealers and importing their weapons into the country illegally. This process continued until 1916 when Congress passed an act designating Firearms Owners’ Protection Act (FOPA) which made it illegal for anyone but licensed gun dealers to sell or buy any weapon without prior registration. This prohibition effectively halted the export of handguns and rifles into Minnesota and gave rise to one of Rosemount’s most famous sons – Royce “Buzz” Weingarten – who became one of its biggest proponents for gun control during his time as mayor from 1963-1975. Weingarten also played an important role in lobbying for passage of FOPA in 1974 which tightened up controls on firearm sales and ownership within the state. Rosemount is a small town in the Minnesota state of Minnesota. The population was 1,817 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The village was founded in 1881 by immigrants from Hungary and Italy who had arrived in what is now centralMinnesota during the American Civil War as refugees. The first store opened in 1881 on Main Street, and it was one of only a few businesses in town until about 1920. By that time, farming had replaced manufacturing as Rosemount's mainstay, but some industries continued to exist until the early 21st century: a car wash operated by two brothers from 1926 to 1984, a paper mill that closed in 2003, and an ice cream parlor that still operates today. Rosemount has seen many changes over its centuries- most notably its incorporation into city limits in 1898 which gave it more autonomy but also led to increased competition from neighboring towns such as Maplewood and Bloomington for resources and jobs. However, since then things have been slowly improving with new housing developments being built along with more affordable rates for residents since Rosemount has become an easily accessible suburb of larger cities like Minneapolis or St. Paul. Today, Rosemount continues to be a sleepy little community with plenty of memories to keep locals busy all year long!

Rosemount is a town in Clearwater County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 575 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The first settler in Rosemount was David Cook in 1868. David and his wife Sarah were the parents of three children: Jesse, John, and Rachel Cook. In 1870, they erected a log cabin on what is now North Main Street near what is now Park Boulevard. A post office had been established at Rosemount in 1872, and the community name was changed to Clearwater in 1881 when it became a county seat of Clearwater County. Clearwater County was dissolved on January 1, 1912, and its land reorganized as Ramsey County. The town of Rosemount remained within Ramsey County until it became an independent city on December 15, 1915. In 1920-1921 an electric locomotive named "Cascade" ran through town for service from Duluth to Minneapolis/St Paul; this locomotive'sopleship was later replaced by a diesel locomotive named "Aurora". On July 9th 1921 both engines collided head-on with each other just south of town taking out one end of the bridge over Big Creek which crossed into Ramsey County from Clearwater County (the other end still stands). residents travelling between Duluth and Minneapolis/St Paul then had to use either Highway 169 or Swan Lake Road which were much more dangerous due to the crash! Aurora survived but Cascade did not
Rosemount is a city in southern Minnesota, United States. The population was 15,526 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area. Rosemount was founded in 1855 by farmers from Sweden and Norway who came to America looking for land to farm. The city has been named after Mountrose since 1885. The first settlers were Norwegian men and their families who arrived on the MV "Otto" on May 15, 1855, from Sölvesborg in Småland County, Sweden. They were followed by a group of Swedish immigrants led by Lars Ole Severin Nordheim on December 16, 1856 when they landed at what is now called Third Street in Rosemount Township (now Rosemount). In 1870, John Peterson purchased 640 acres (247 hectares) of land south of town and organized it into a township under the name of Maplewood Township. In 1880 he organized another township which became known as First Avenue Township because it ran north-southoutheast from downtown to the east side of Interstate 55 near its interchange with Highway 6A (now I-35W). This township also included parts of present day Maplewood and First Avenues townships as well as Back Lake which was then located northwest of town along today's Boulevard Drive. In 1912 there were 9 Kinnear Grain Elevators built in or around Rosemount; these plants processed grain until 1975 when deregulation caused them all to close down. Kinnear had been merged with Archer Daniels Midland Company two years earlier but the mills continued production until closedown in 1975.. . . .On July 1st 1915 Dakota Trading Post opened up shop on 4th Street just outside town limits between State Road 12/Highway 61 & US 83/US 169; this post handled supplies brought overland from Dakota Territory via prairie paths during early 1916…. By 1920 there were 10 businesses within 5 miles (8 km) of town limits – this represented an increase over 1916 when only 2 businesses serviced the area!
