During World War II, Rosemount became an important base for munitions production due to its location near airfields that served Europe and Asia. In 1945 it lost its status as a community when most of its manufacturing activity ended due to war-time restrictions on land use within individual townships (this included Crystal Lake). However, many residents continued to live here until they left for other parts of the country after the war ended; some returned in later years. Today, Rosemount remains an agricultural community with a focus on hay production and local processing industries such as cheese making and bakery products. It also has some tourism opportunities related to its beautiful scenery or historical significance including tours of local factories where munitions were made or displays about local food traditions
