The history of gun magazines in Rosemount, Minnesota started with the Gun Club. The club was founded on December 5, 1892 by a group of men who were interested in firearms and wanted to share information about them. At first the club met monthly, but soon it grew into an annual event where people could come together to learn more about guns and how to use them. Over time, the club became more involved in politics and began using its knowledge of firearms to help fight for conservation issues. In 1902, they formed a committee that developed a bill that would have made it illegal to sell ammunition without a license. However, this effort failed due to lack of support from the community. In 1939, another group of men decided to start their own gun magazine in Rosemount. The new magazine was called the Rifleman and its inaugural issue featured article on how to shoot shotguns properly. It also included images of various shotguns being used in local shootings. The Rifleman quickly gained popularity within the community and continued publishing articles until 1951 when it folded due to lack of money. Since then, there has been no regular activity at the Gun Club or any other gun enthusiasts group in Rosemount; instead,romptu meetings are held every two or three months as different groups try out new methods for sharing information about guns and shooting techniques. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Gun Club and there is hope that something will happen next year that will help restart regular programming at this important resource for Minnesotans who love their weapons!

Rosemount is a small town in southwestern Minnesota, United States. The population was 5,337 at the 2010 census. Rosemount is home to the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management and its campus of natural sciences and engineering. The village was founded in 1851 by Norwegian immigrants as a Methodist mission station on the banks of the White River. It became a community in 1876 when it amalgamated with nearby geographic communities (Atherton, Eden Prairie, Hibbing, Moose Jaw) to form what would become the city of Minneapolis. By 1900, Rosemount had an active banking and commercial district that included six stores and over fifty businesses. In 1916, when Minneapolis-St. Paul annexed parts of Stearns County west of Minneapolis to form its new municipality, Rosemount reverted to its original name: "Moses Lake". In 1970 it united with neighboring towns Hibbing and Eden Prairie to form the city of Rosemount; this merger was undone two years later when Hibbing seceded from the city limits. According to The Gazetteer for 1920-1921: "Rosemount is located on Great Forks Road east of Highway 52 between Red Wing and Moses Lake." The first post office opened in 1851; Isaac Niehaus served as Postmaster until 1865 when his brother-in-law Fenton Winters took over responsibility. "Moses Lake", which means "the headwaters" or "source" in Dakota Sioux (Sioux), was named after General George Armstrong Custer's horse Moses during his final battle against Apache warriors near Fort Hays on July 24th, 1868 while Cavalry Lieutenant Colonel John Sutter led Aideen's troop against these Indians under command of Captain Basil Emmons according to oral history collected by Roger Kappeler:[4] On one day early summer 1865 I rode along with Captain Emmons' staff into those mountains westward about 8 miles from here—about where now stands Crystal City Cemetery—and we saw signs that there were springs running out there among all those rocks—alluvial material having been deposited since Creation time,—for we followed for some distance these deep blue spring water courses down into those hillsides where today’s Crystal City Cemetery lies—and we came across General Custer’s body lying upon his horse’s back just beyond that big bluff you see behind us still standing today called Mount Carmel Hill—-our general being Executed outside this fortifications leading up said hill opposite Nobles Ferry Hotel & Casino,—nearby still is also another mound or rock called Pioneer Hill.—I will never forget what Captain Emmons told me about it publically.* *This account comes from “The History Of Ramsey CountyMinnesota vol 1″ by Archibald Coxe published 1912 pg 293* On July 24th 1868 General George Armstrong Custer fought Apache Indians commanded by Captain Basil Emmons at Fort Hays near Nobles Ferry Hotel & Casino - nearby still is also another mound or rock called Pioneer Hill according to oral history collected by Roger Kappeler:[4] < Nowadays there are several small cemeteries around Moses lake -Crystal City Cemetery being one example ><> * This account comes from “The History Of Ramsey CountyMinnesota vol 1″ by Archibald Coxe published 1912 pg 293*

Rosemount is a small town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,827 at the 2010 census. Rosemount has been inhabited for over two hundred years and is one of the oldest towns in Ramsey County. The town was named after Anna Maria Rose, who bought land there in 1868. It began as a small farming community with only 12 residents in 1871. By 1905, the population had grown to 350 people. In 1920, the town became a city and retains that status to this day. The first settler in what is now Rosemount was John Armstrong who arrived on July 4th of that year and built a log cabin on his farmstead about three miles southeast of present-day Rosemount (now part of Chanhassen). other early settlers included Thomas Eastman and Isaac Smith. The first school in what is now Rosemount was opened by Mrs Hennepin County Teachers' Union on November 6th, 1872. At that time it was the only school in rural Ramsey County and taught grades 1-8. Schools were not set up until countywide legislation passed in 1876 made education mandatory for all children between the ages of 10 and 24 years old regardless of family income or lack thereof! The first store open within rosemount limits occurred on August 15th, 1878 when Andrew Dornan opened his general store at 5 N Main Street across from today's High School campus after moving from Bloomington several months earlier! A post office called "Rosenburg" was established at 5 N Main Street on October 25th, 1888; it served until 1912 when it relocated to its present location near US Highway 169 east of town center! One important event which took place during this early period was the signing on January 9th 1870 by Governor James Kiefer of Minnesota of an agreement under which all citizens were to be taxed together for the construction of a new county courthouse located just south east (east) of present-day Rosemont along I-94! This marks one instance where communities adjacent to each other formed agreements whereby they would work together towards common goals rather than waiting out individual officials! During World War II various munitions plants were constructed throughout easternMinnesota including one right next door to where our high school sits today called Consolidated Munitions Company plant #2 according as it then stood: cornered by Schmidt Road between Maplewood Rd & Elmhurst Ave
