Rosemount is a small town in the extreme northeast corner of Minnesota. It is located on the border of Ramsey County and Morrison County, just east of the Missouri River. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. The first settler in Rosemount was J.D. McKay, who arrived in 1854. McKay named his community after Mount Rose (a peak in Canada), which he had seen from his farmstead on the banks of the river. The first school in Rosemount was opened by teacher Anna Ladd in 1857. In 1861, a post office was established at Rosemount and it remained an important center for mail delivery until 1955 when it became a feeder station for nearby Minneapolis/St Paul. In 1905, local businessmen formed a group to develop land south of town along what is now Interstate 94 and they named their new development Cascade Township after Cascade Lake, about 12 miles west of Rosemount on Hennepin County Road A2A6. The Town of Cascade was incorporated as a municipality on April 14, 1907; however, its boundaries were never truly defined due to incorporation problems that continued until 1915 when they were finally defined by platting out all remaining unincorporated area within existing townships including Cascade Township proper and parts of neighboring Morrison and Ramsey counties into one entity known as "Rosemount." In 1912-13 there were several strikes against organized labor at various mines near Cascade but no serious unrest occurred as these activities were localized within individual companies rather than widespread walkouts or boycotts like those taking place throughout much of America during this time period affecting many industries such as transportation, agriculture etc.). In 1916-17 an attempt was made to build a dam across Hennepin Creek near present day Crystal City but this project failed because financial difficulties caused by World War I led to reductions in purchasing power for builders everywhere except for Minnesota where industrial production increased sharply thanks to government largesse during that war years infrastructure projects such as bridges and highways sprang up around newly developed urban centers such as Minneapolis). Rosemount is a small town in the far northcentral corner of Minnesota. It was founded in 1869 by Norwegian immigrants, and has been home to a variety of cultures and families since that time. The town is located on the banks of the Missouri River, just south of the state's capital, Minneapolis. The first European settlers arrived in what is now Rosemount in 1869, when Norway made land claims on behalf of its people during the Dakota Sioux War. The new arrivals were Methodist missionaries who built a log cabin on Big Creek downstream from present-day Rosemount. The first permanent settler was Ole Hansen, who erected a cabin and farmstead on what is now East Lake Road near present-day High School. Hansen's descendants still live in the community today. In 1871, farmers John Guthrie and Jesse Moberg bought land east of present-day Rosemount from Danish immigrant Rasmus Jensen for $2 per acre. They developed their holdings into what are now Guthrie County and Ramsey County respectively – both named after early Rosemont settlers – with help from local churches which donated land to build schools and other infrastructure. Today, those same religious organizations continue to play an important role in life here; many residents attend services at First United Methodist Church or Harrison Presbyterian Church every Sunday morning. One of the most significant events inRosemount's history occurred during World War I when thousands of Norwegians served within our country as soldiers or sailors.
