Rosemount, Minnesota is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The population was 8,912 at the 2010 census. In 1887, land southwest of present-day town was purchased from the Sioux Nation for $1,250 cash and 36 horses. The homesteaders named their new settlement after Mount Rushmore National Monument in South Dakota – "Mount Rushmore City" became official name in 1912 when it became a part of Ramsey County. In 1905, a streetcar line ran through town linking it with Eden Prairie to the south and Hibbing to the north. This bus service stopped at what is now First Avenue South/First Street West before continuing westward into Rosemount where passengers disembarked at what is now Roosevelt Road (now Maplewood Drive). At this time, First Avenue was called Russell Road because it connected both towns together (and still does today). In 1926, Rosemount voters approved a measure allowing liquor sales throughout Ramsey County while maintaining prohibition within its own borders; this legislation later led to rosemont's status as one of Twin Cities' most popular tourist destinations due to its lenient laws regarding alcohol consumption outside business areas

Additionally, another significant event that took place inRosemount occurred during World War II. After Pearl Harbor was attacked on December 7th, 1941, Rosendale mayor John Wittenberg declared martial law and ordered all businesses closed until further notice. As a result of this decision, many jobs were lost for citizens of Rosendale as well as soldiers stationed within the city limits. However, this did not stop Rosendale from fighting during World War II; they even built their own air base outside of town!
