In 1935, Robbinsdale School District purchased a land parcel adjacent to the current gymnasium complex and began construction on what would become their latest school building. The new structure included an opening in its roof top which served as a firing gallery for students and staff. Gun targets continue to play an important role at Robbinsdale School District's Range Complex today and are enjoyed by both students and staff alike.

In the 1930s, Robbinsdale became one of the first municipalities in Minnesota to adopt a municipally run school system. The town also built its own police department and fire department. In the 1970s, Robbinsdale began to experience growth as an agricultural center, with concerns over water resources prompting development of land adjacent to the Kinnickinnic River. Today, Robbinsdale is home to several shopping malls and a large military base.
