Ramsey is a town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It is the fifth-smallest incorporated municipality in Minnesota. The smallness of its size has led to it often being called "the little city", as many residents commute to larger cities such as Minneapolis and St. Paul. In October 2006, Ramsey voters passed a resolution recognizing Christmas as a national holiday by passing an ordinance declaring December 25th "Christmas Day" within its borders instead of January 6th which has been celebrated annually since 1867 by neighboring Apple Valley because that is when Thanksgiving falls on schedule according to Northern European custom (). This event becomes official when both municipalities pass resolutions proclaiming it so together (). As Thanksgiving falls on January 8th this year () there will be no celebration taking place in RAMSEY because that day still falls within MINNESOTA STATE CODE'S HOLIDAY REGULATIONS . In light of this discrepancy Township Officials decided not to celebrate Christmas this year despite repeated pleas from residents .
