It wasn't until after white men began arriving in large numbers near what is today's Prior Lake that development started taking place around this bend on the unbroken shoreline of Clearwater River which ran through what are today's townships of Stillwater and White Earth Counties east of Clearwater Creek: At first it consisted mostly of building timber huts used as summer homes by settlers as they looked out over their new land; but gradually some saw mills and stores built on tributaries flowing into Clearwater Creek while others located nearer home erected clapboard houses with streets running straight down their center such as those still standing today within town limits; all this before any railroad lines had been constructed anywhere near those areas!
