The township's boundaries changed several times over the years but it always remained within Clearwater County. In 1926, Prior Lake became a city when it amalgamated with other townships to form the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area; however, Prior Lake continued to be an unincorporated community until it incorporated as a city in 1972. PriorLake has been home to many businesses and industries such as Paper Box Company (1927-2002), EMC Magnetics Corporation (1984-2003), and Engineering Services Inc.(1974-present). These companies have left behind major footprints on their local communities which can still be seen today thanks to their successors' hard work and dedication to keeping things thriving - something that goes hand-in-hand with being part of one of America's largest cities!

Prior Lake is a town in Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. The population was 3,814 at the 2010 census. Prior Lake is part of the Grand Rapids–Munising Micropolitan Statistical Area. The community known today as Prior Lake was founded by Germans in 1868 and named for Friedrich Wilhelm Preiswetter, who had come to America that year on an trapping trip with his brother-in-law, Carl Benziger. Preiswetter built a log cabin on the site which he and his wife occupied until 1870 when they sold it to John Fritsch and his family. In 1872 Gertrude Fritsch married Jacob Boehm and the community name reverted back to Prior Lake after them. In 1875 Denton Burton set up a claims near Prior Lake in what is now Muskegon County. He claimed all of present-day Muskegon County except what is now Grand Rapids Township (the easternmost township). This claim would be granted later to William Ligonier who also established a post office there in 1880. In 1881 Wm Henson organized the village of Batavia around his store on lakeshore just north of where Prior Lake now stands – this village would eventually become part of Grand Rapids while Batavia continued as an unincorporated community until 1924 when it became part of the current town of Muskegon Heights. A post office was also established at Batavia in 1881 but it failed to take off and was discontinued about two years later; however, mail continued being delivered throughBatavia into nearby Prior Lakes until 1903 when that road leading from Grand Rapids connectionly stopped running due to construction projects elsewhere in the city center. At various points throughout its history prior lake has been home to either German or American farmers who generally raised corn, potatoes, chickens or dairy products for local markets acrossmuskegon county . Demolition began taking place throughout most of muskegon county during prohibition time as many farms were liquidated along with their animals/crops as taxes became too high for many people unable or unwilling to break prohibition law Most recently priorlake has seen significant development thanks largely to several private businesses which have invested over $100 million total into renovating/upgrading downtown core since 2009 including one large mixed use project complete within only 6 months called "The Landing" which comprises over 500 residential units & 100 commercial spaces occupying 4 blocks inside downtown core
Prior Lake was a small, but important, stream in southwestern Minnesota. The watercourse formed in the area around present-day Prior Lake and ran for about 125 miles before joining the Mississippi River near Duluth.
