At that time, the town was located on the upper Mississippi River and many of the farmers used firelights to guide their cattle and horses to water. The introduction of gun lights helped make nighttime life much more enjoyable for those living in this small town.

Gun lights first became popular in Prior Lake, Minnesota in the early 1900s. At that time, many people in the town used lighted pistols to protect themselves from muggers and other thieves.
Prior Lake is a small town located in the state of Minnesota. The population was 5,531 as of the 2010 census. Prior to becoming a municipality in 1857, Prior Lake was part of the Dakota Territory. The community was named for Captain John Prior, an American fur trader who had died on his way to trade with the Sioux in 1851. Prior Lake is located in southwestern Minnesota and occupies a land area that extends from east to west and from north to south. It borders Minneapolis to the south and west, Marshall County to the northwest, Hennepin County to the east, and Crazy Horse Nation Indian Reservation to the north. The community occupies a tract of land that has been used by humans since at least 10 thousand years ago.Archaeologists have found evidence that prior lake was inhabited by three different cultures:the Illini or Potawatomi Indians who lived there during the 16th century;the Chippewa tribe who occupied it during 17th century;andthe British colonists who arrived there in 1768 began construction of Fort Snelling which would later become Minneapolis. During its early years, Prior Lake served as an important trading post between these various groups. From here traders could purchase goods such as fur coats and other items needed for their travel westward into what is now North Dakota and South Dakota. In addition, they could also sell products collected along their travels such as buffalo robes and beaver pelts. By 1821 however, Fort Snelling had replaced this post as the main trading center for all of Manitoba due to its location closer to Ottawa than Winnipeg at that time. At this point Prior Lake ceased being an important commercial center due mostly to lack of access roadways and other infrastructure issues surrounding it at that time (see Highway No 12). Sometime after 1840 however,Prior Lake began experiencing a rapid increase in population due primarily to Scandinavian settlers moving into southwestern Minnesota looking for farmland following their experience living among Native Americans during their journey across North America (see Settlement History Timeline). Initially these settlers did not bother developing any communities withinMinnesota but instead chose instead focus on establishing farms outside our state (see Settlers – Sweden). However before long many of these new arrivals had encountered problems locating water resources suitable for farming so they turned their attention back towards Prior Lake where they first started building homesites around what is now known as Pond Creek House (now known as Rapids Landing Resort) back in 1845-46 based off information they gleaned from local mapmakers depicting what today would be calledLake Superior’s shoresline (). This initial development led directlyto Whatcom Township being formed adjacentto neighboring Rapids Landing Resort sometime thereafter(1847)). By 1850 however most residents within Rapids Landing Resort were already deceased leaving only those residing adjacentto Whatcom Township newly established villages/townships including Post Office Village founded circa1850),Reckling Beach established c 1860), former mill village renamed “Macklinac” 1865) etc.(See Maps 1-4). Gun lights have been around for over a century, and are still used by law enforcement and military alike. There are many different types of gun lights, each with its own purposes and uses. One of the earliest types of gun lights was the “pistol light”. These were small, hand-held flashlights that could be used to see in dark environments. They were not very reliable, and often led to accidents as officers mistook them for real firearms. The early 20th century saw the development of the “flashlight”. This was a large, heavy flashlight that could be worn on a person’s belt or clipped to their clothing. It was much more reliable than both the pistol light and the handgun light, and allowed police officers to see in darkness without getting lost or mistaken for criminals. The first true automatic firearms were created during World War II, when Japan began developing new weapons using advanced technology. The result was the Type 0 Rifle, which functioned like an electric rifle with a flashlight attached to it. This type of weapon is still in use by some military forces today! During the 1960s, police departments began to adopt laser assisted crime detection (LACD) units as part of their crime control strategy. These units use lasers rather than traditional flashlight beams to detect objects in close quarters; this allows officers to make better decisions about where to search based on evidence evidence alone instead of relying on guesswork and intuition

Prior Lake is a small, unassuming town in southern Minnesota. But it has a rich and varied history that can be traced back to the early 1800s. The first residents of Prior Lake were farmers who came from the eastern United States around 1825. They began trading goods with the Indians, and soon started to cultivate land. In 1829, they built a sawmill on the river near present-day Prior Lake. The mill was unsuccessful and went out of business in 1830. However, according to one account, local resident John Carlson managed to keep the mill running for three years despite being short on money. This show of resilience is indicative of Carlson's character – he was always willing to take risks and try new things even when there wasn't much hope for success. Over time, other businesses cropped up in Prior Lake – including a blacksmith shop, wagon Wheel factory, gristmill, post office and several churches. In 1868, Prior Lake became an incorporated town under the name "Erie." At that point, it had a population of about 100 people; by 1910, it had increased to over 200 people! The town remained relatively small until World War II when it exploded into growth thanks to wartime demand for munitions production (by nearby Red Wing). The construction of military facilities in Prior Lake drove many families out of the town during the war; however, others quickly moved back in after hostilities ended. Today, prior lake retains its modest but vibrant community spirit – although its population has dipped below 200 since 2010 due to decreases in military employment and population growth elsewhere in ruralMinnesota
Prior Lake is a small, remote community in the Canadian province of Manitoba. The community was first settled in 1897 by German immigrants. Prior Lake was founded on land that once belonged to the Fort Rouge First Nation.
