The history of firearms in Prior Lake, Minnesota begins with the early 1800s when fur traders and hunters traveled through the area. One of the first people to settle in Prior Lake was John S. Roemer, who arrived in 1852. Roemer started a small grocery store and grist mill on the banks of the river. He also built a cabin and purchased some land east of town. The first known shooting match in Prior Lake was held in 1875 between two teams of men from neighboring townships.
Prior Lake is a census-designated place located in Cass County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis metropolitan area. The first Europeans to see and visit Prior Lake were French fur traders from Quebec in 1621. The name "Prior" may be related to the Algonquian word "poto", meaning "to run." In 1851, James Hennepin became the first white man known to have traveled through Prior Lake when he crossed it on horseback from Canada into Minnesota. In 1875, lumber barons established a post office at Prior Lake; it served until 1899. Prior Lake's business district was developed along State Highway 24 which ran east-west through town and intersected Uptown Road north of village center. The community was incorporated as a city in 1912 by Mayor John Ahern and City Councilman Charles Sievers with a population of 120 residents; however, the incorporation was revoked by state authorities because of lack of voter approval. On March 12, 1916 an act approved by voters established Prior Lake as a township; however, this ordinance did not take effect until May 6, 1916 because no land had been acquired for it within the township boundaries. That year prior to its establishment as a township there were only 8 residences in Township #4 (later renamed after him) and 2 businesses - one grocery store and one machine shop - located near what is now Village Center Boulevard/Uptown Rd., just east of present day Main Street (formerly State Highway 24). In 1922 all but 3 residences were razed when new construction began on what would become Village Center Boulevard/Uptown Rd.; that year also saw the opening of what would become our currentPost Office building which replaced an earlier wooden structure built in 1915 by Wm Kapp & Sons Lumber Co.. In 1930 Township #4 consisted of 20 families while Township #5 had 80 residents... By 1940 all but 4 residences had been demolished with erection beginning on what would become Main Street ( formerly State Highway 24) for Stores Morningside Heights Inc., later Allied Signal Corp., then Archer Daniels Midland Company before becoming complete in 1945: At this time Post Office operations moved out onto Municipal Drive adjacent to Administration Building starting February 1939 thru 1970

Prior Lake is a small town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,912 at the 2010 census. It is the namesake of Prior Lake State Park and Prior Lake Marina. The community began as a post office in 1868, and was named for General John A. Lowry, who served as military governor of Minnesota from 1865 to 1868. Lowry had been born in Canada in 1827 and settled in what is now Prior Lake after arriving here on horseback from Stonington, Connecticut. In 1870 the post office moved to its present location and continued operation until it merged with neighboring village of Holland on November 15, 1935. PriorLake State Park opened in 1937 adjacent to the original Post Office site. The park includes a small lake that provides fishing opportunities for both locals and visitors; a beach located south of town; picnics and other events including musician's Nights; hiking/biking trails; an observatory with three telescopes; a greenhouse; gift shop; restaurant/cafeteria featuring live music most nights during summer months (closed mid-winter); gift shop open late May through early October each year; lodge with comfortable furnishings inside and outside (open seasonally only); gift shop open late May through early October each year serving refreshments such as beer, wine, soft drinks etc.; two golf courses - one public - operated by the nonprofit Ramsey County Golf Association since 1938 additional amenities include: showers available at concessionaire pavilion ($8 per person), playground (with swings & slides), basketball court (& youth league), bandstand/piano lab & lounge - also features movies shown nightly at 7pm outdoors across 2 screens opposite pavilion seating area,- Hiking Trails extending into nearby woods provide access to water crossings which can be stocked for boating or swimming - Additional attractions available at park include: Playground next door for children not old enough to play on state government property Lodge has comfortable furnishings inside and outside
Prior Lake is a small water body located in County of Ramsey, Minnesota. It was formed by the merger of several smaller lakes. The most significant event that took place at Prior Lake occurred on July 14, 1875 when the first train ever operated on the now-defunct Pacific Railroad arrived there.
