The gun used in this attack was legally owned by the shooter and had been stored unloaded and locked away in his home for years prior to its use. Similarly, earlier this year an individual walked into an elementary school in Parkland Florida with an AR-15 rifle and opened fire killing 17 children before being shot dead by police officers. These examples only scratches the surface of how easy it is for someone with no experience with firearms to inflict grievous harm on innocent people simply because they were wielding one incorrectly

Plymouth was founded in 1854 by the Plymouth Company, a group of investors who built a flour mill and courthouse. The town grew quickly, and in 1875 it became the county seat of Ramsey County. Plymouth's economy changed dramatically during the late 1800s and early 1900s as farmers turned to agriculture for their livelihoods. During this time, Plymouth experienced rapid growth, becoming one of the most populous towns in Minnesota. In addition to its importance as a commercial center, Plymouth also developed into an important educational institution. In 1907, Plymouth became home to the first university in Minnesota. The town continued to grow during World War II as many residents joined the military or took jobs in trade-related sectors.During the Cold War era, Plymouth experienced significant economic decline due to its lack of access to transportation and other resources vital to larger cities. However, over the last few years there has been renewed interest in Plymouth thanks to its history and unique attractions. This paper will provide a brief overview of plymouth's history before going on to discuss some of the biggest changes that have occurred since it emerged as a vibrant community again in 2014.

Plymouth, Minnesota is an unincorporated community in Dixon County, Minnesota, United States. It was laid out in 1881, and renamed Plymouth in 1903. The population was 1 at the 2000 census. The first settler to Plymouth was Enos Bean who arrived in 1854. A post office called Plymouth was established at this location on December 5, 1881, and remained in operation until it was discontinued on November 15, 1907. In 1903, the name of the community changed to Plymouth after a vote by the residents. The original town site lay east of present-day Plymouth Avenue and north of State Highway 2.
Plymouth is a city in Plymouth County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,406 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Plymouth County. The first settler in Plymouth was A.S. "Sam" Hennepin and his family who arrived on July 6, 1855 from Geneva, Wisconsin. They built a log cabin on what is now the corner of Fourth and University Streets. The town began as a small stop on the Hastings-Grand Forks stagecoach line and grew rapidly because of its location near two major railroads and access to fertile land for farming. By 1860, Plymouth had a store, school, church and six homes. In 1871, the state territorial legislature established Plymouth as an independent city with its own government under the leadership of Mayor Denton Sibley. During World War II, Plymouth played an important role in military recruitment by providing housing for soldiers stationed in nearby Duluth until 1945 when it became part of Duluth-Moorhead City
