Otsego, Minnesota is a small town in the upper peninsula of Minnesota, United States. The population was 498 at the 2010 census. The community is on the eastern edge of Ramsey County and is bordered by Clearwater County to the north, Anoka County to the east, and Hennepin County to the south. The unincorporated communities of Davenport and Westboro are also located in Otsego. The first Europeans to visit what is now Otsego were French traders in 1672–73 who named it "Monsieur" for Jean-Baptiste Marquette. In 1823, John McLaughlin surveyed what would become Otsego Township and submitted a map of it to the Minnesota Territorial Legislature. On July 11, 1824, Native American leader Pequot Chief Mikisewa gave a land grant of 640 acres (240 hectares) including present-day Otsego Township to Nicholas Putnam. OtseGO post office was established in 1836; it closed in 1951. It reopened as an express mail service between Minneapolis and Duluth on October 15, 1951 after being closed by United States Post Office Administration officials due to low mail volume during World War II. According to one source, when potatoes became available near Valentine Lake after years of frosty conditions that limited their production natural disasters such as floods occurred more frequently because people could not get food from their homes or farmlands which were wet from below due to large amounts of ice that formed each wintertime over having no snowpack on top like today's stateside locations do due mostly to climate change events with warmer temperatures causing less water storage then typical since most glaciers have melted away) so farmers began planting crops around Valentine Lake where they found fresh water even though there had been many floods before then this time because there wasn't anything else downriver for people & animals so if something happened bad enough humans just moved out another 5 miles upstream into what we call Stillwater Valley today (Valentine Lakeshore today) but back then still had plenty of trees coverable under lower levels lots more water nearby so you could live close enough where you grew your food but far enough away from those places again like we are now

Otsego, Minnesota is a small town in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The population was 714 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The first settler in Otsego was John Nolen, who arrived in 1855 and homesteaded near what is now downtown Otsego. In 1870, two brothers named Davenport bought land in the town and began to build a mill on the river for flour and other products for local farmers. They also built a Methodist church and schoolhouse which remain today as part of the town center. The first municipal building was erected in 1881 by Mayor James Haggerty, Jr., with assistance from his father James Haggerty, Sr., an early settler in Otsego County. The present day courthouse was constructed between 1912 and 1916 by architect Noble Wohlman using red Alder timbers from a previous private lumberyard that had been burned down two years earlier during World War I; it has been declared a historical landmark by the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Two other important structures located within or near downtown Otsego are First Baptist Church – founded in 1865 – which still meets regularly today and Second Presbyterian Church – completed in 1902 – which also serves as civic center headquarters for Otsego Township government since its inception. Otsego was founded in 1854 by Alexander McGillivray and his brothers, John and Peter. The town grew rapidly thanks to its natural resources, which included coal, timber, and lead. In 1916, Otsego became the first city in Minnesota to adopt a new constitution.
