In 1928, the store moved to its current location on Grand Avenue. The first computer in town was purchased from Minneapolis by the Walters family in 1951 and was used at their Oakdale store as well as at their home. In 1957, Mrs. Walters passed away and her son Mr.Walters took over management of the store until his death in 1984. In 1987, the original flooring for the store was replaced with a more modern design which continues to be used today as part of the front facade of the store

Oakdale is a small town in the far northwest corner of Minnesota, United States. With a population of just over 400, Oakdale is one of the smallest towns in the state. The community was founded in 1881 by farmers and ranchers who moved from another small town near Maple Grove. Oakdale became an incorporated municipality in 1907. The main industry in Oakdale is farming, with a focus on corn, soybeans, and wheat. Other businesses include two churches, a post office, and several banks. More than half of the residents work in some form of paid employment outside the community. There are few public services available to residents other than water supply and waste disposal; transportation is limited to walking or biking only within the limits of the local school district. However, there are many clubs and organizations available for residents to join including a library, cemeteries, golf course, tennis club and more.

Oakdale is a small town in St. Louis County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 553 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and is located on the west bank of the Missouri River. Oakdale's history can be traced back to 1881 when residents of what is now Oakdale were forced to leave their homes in Ordericek Township because there was no longer enough timber to support their industry. In 1892, as a result of a land fortification project by the US Army Corps of Engineers, settlers from other parts of Minnesota began moving into Oakdale and nearby communities in search of new land for agriculture or ranching purposes. The townsite was named after General James Sibley, who had helped organize US forces during the Mexican–American War. The first school in Oakdale was built in 1893, and it served only children until 1912 when it became an all-through high school. In 1916, construction began on what would become an important branch courthouse which opened its doors to the public in 1917. Parkman School District #2 purchased property adjacent to the high school campus in 1922 and built a new school which served students through 1959; however, that building eventually burned down and became known as "The Old Courthouse". In 1954, Parkman School District #2 merged with neighboring West Hills School District #1 to form Parkman-West Hills Schools District #2; however, that merger resulted in just one elementary school (Libraries) serving both districts instead of two as necessary under state law then/and now. In 1957, following protests by parents over lack of equipment for their schools within Parkman-West Hills Schools District #2 - including gymnasiums and technology classrooms - Superintendent David Auerbach announced plans to build five new kindergarten through eighth grade schools across district boundaries within ten years; this campaign led to construction beginning on what would become Maplewood Elementary School (now Maplewood Middle), Cherry Hill Elementary (now Cherry Hill Jr./Sr.)Middle & High Schools (now Chaska/Kahoka High), Hawthorne Elementary (now Hawthorne Jr./Sr.), and Little Falls Elementary (now Little Falls Jr./Sr.). These buildings opened between 1960 and 1969; however,- due largely to funding limitations placed upon districts by state policymakers - final enrollment totals for each school until 1990 ranged from 488 students per class at Maplewood Elementary through 612 students per class at Hawthorne Junior/Senior High School alone! Of note since 1990: Maplewood Middle closed completely in 1998 & has not reopened since (& closure followed several earlier moves away from rural areas towards larger metro areas); Chaska/Kahoka High closed permanently around 2008 (& has not reopened since then either); Little Falls Jr./Sr., closed around 2011 (& remains inactive today). Despite these closures & some recent conversions/replacements elsewhere within our district - total enrollment for grades nine thru 12 currently stands at 1123 Students! This level&*gt;of enrollment continues despite volatility caused by various natural disasters such as severe flooding damage Yenisei River Valley 2012 & 2013 combined with droughts experienced recently throughout most of MN? In addition - much like many other small towns across America where history can be found along with stories about local commerce & community life - Oakdale also boasts an interesting collection of artifacts dating back more than 100 years! The town of Oakdale was founded in 1854 by Andrew and Martha Smith. The first post office was established in 1865, and the first school opened in 1867. In 1870, the village of Oakdale was incorporated as a town. The population grew rapidly during the late 19th century, and by 1902 there were over 100 residents. By 1907, Oakdale had a library, hospital, and two churches. During World War I, the town served as a munitions dump for the city of Minneapolis. After the war, the population decreased but slowly revived until it reached its peak around 1960 with over 400 residents. However, since then there has been an steady decline in population until it currently numbers around 150 people.
