Oakdale is a small town in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area located in the eastern Twin Cities region of Minnesota. It was founded as a farm community in 1873, and became an industrial center during the early 20th century. Oakdale's main industry was agriculture until the early 21st century, when it began to revive as a bedroom community for the city of Minneapolis. The city has since supplanted Oakdale as its primary economic force, but Oakdale retains some significant cultural and historic attractions. HISTORY The first settlers in what is now Oakdale were farmers who arrived in 1873. By 1915, most of the original residents had died or moved away, leaving behind a small farming community that remainedactive until around 1910. In 1916, local businessmen James Ewing and Clarence Hennepin donated land to build what would becomethe first modern schoolhouse inMinnesota; this school served as both a rural bible study center for believersand an educational opportunity for students from rural areas nearby. In 1922, American Electric Power Company (AEP) leased land south of downtown fromthe county for $1 per acre; this lease formedthe nucleus of AEP's future business activities inMinnesota. AEP soon developed nearby factories which suppliedAEP with electric power for their businesses and residences throughout centralMinnesota and northern Wisconsin - one such factory remains active today! After yearsof investment by AEP leaders Jens Jensen (1927-2005), CEO Norm Coleman (1985-2004), vice president Dave Koehler(1994-2006) and others within the corporate structureof AEP, construction on what would eventually become University Avenue beganon July 14, 1925; University Avenue would later be renamed after former State Senator Norm Coleman! This massive project involved cutting through bedrock toconstruct northenmost campus boundaries between University Ave., Maplewood Road/US Highway 169 east thereofand Anoka County Road #5 west thereof – making it one of largest privatedevelopments ever conducted within state borders at that time! Despitethis groundbreaking accomplishment byUniversity Avenue Associates Limited Partnership (), growth towards downtown declinedduring the late 1920s due to competition from newly constructeddowntown apartments associated with greater Minneapolis Urban Expansionism2!! 3 In fact, only two decades laterwould University Ave.'s heyday return with developments such as North Park mallonto take hold along Founder Dr./University Ave., helped along by increased job opportunities resultingfrom technological advancements during World War II! 4 Todayit remains one of Twin Cities' most popular neighborhoodsfor nightlife options and professional services!

In the 1940s, Oakdale became known as the "holster capital of Minnesota." The company continued to make quality holsters until it was sold in 1978.
Oakdale is a small town in Minnesota. It was founded in 1853, and has been around for over 100 years. The population of Oakdale was 839 at the 2000 census. The town is located in the northwestern corner of the state, bordered by Wright County to the east, Ramsey County to the south and west, and Hibbing County to the north. It occupies a square location on Hennepin County’s eastern border. The name “Oakdale” is derived from two Swedish settlers, Anders Nystrom and his wife Anna Holmqvist, who named their land after an oak tree that grew near their farmstead on the banks of the River Maple. The first settler in what would become Oakdale was Jens Nilsen, who arrived in 1853. He married Anna Holmqvist and started farming with his new bride on what would become known as Nystrom Farm. In 1865, another Norwegian immigrant named Ole Olsen added to the family farm – he had come overland from Norway during The Dakota War of 1862-1863. Olsen became one of Oakdale’s most significant citizens through his work as a banker and local merchant; he also served as mayor twice and as justice of peace once. By 1900, there were more than 850 residents living in Oakdale – its size increased markedly when several families moved into nearby Wrightville during that decade due to improved transportation opportunities available via rails running throughMinnesota Valley Territory (later Elkton Township). By 1910, only 4 people remained living on Nystrom Farm; all other residents had either moved or sold their holdings within three years of purchase. A number of businesses were established during this time: a grocery store/mineral store opened in 1907; a post office was established in 1909; an auto garage/repair shop opening shortly thereafter allowed for vehicle ownership among its customers; an ice cream parlor opened along Elm Street just east of town limits in 1911; and finally pornography began appearing at local theaters beginning in 1920 when movie theater owner Leland Stanford bought equipment from Dutchman Jacobus Balthazar for use at his Elmhurst Theater complex (now known as Regal Cinemas) across First Avenue North from downtown Oakdale (and later across First Avenue South). By 1930 there were 12 businesses operating within village limits - including six saloons - five general stores (one each handling groceries, hardware supplies, feed products etc.), two schools (grades 1-8), two churches (Methodism & Lutheran), two barns (one used for storage purposes & one used as a meeting hall), four homes & one church goods store open throughout both sexes! This busy entrepreneurial climate did not last long however - within 10 years all but one business had closed – leaving only one grocery store remaining open by 1940! Like many small towns throughout America during this time periodgrowing prosperous but struggling against various odds such as difficult soil conditions which limited yield potential& rampant gambling Widespread Prohibition curtailed economic activity making it increasingly difficult for small community leaders like those found heretofore to maintain essential services like healthcare fiscally while still providing quality retail outlets essential for keeping locals engaged& socializing opportunities vital for maintaining morale (& thus counteracting temptation towards crime) little attention was given whatsoever to infrastructure needs egressing instead onto interpersonal relationships key elements sustaining these tightknit communities thereby leading ultimately to decline

Oakdale is a small town in central Minnesota, located about an hour and a half drive east of Minneapolis on I-75. The population was 907 at the 2010 census. Oakdale is one of the oldest towns in the state, founded in 1855 by farmers who arrived from Illinois. The town developed around a school and post office, both built in the 1860s. The first store was built on First Avenue in 1865. In 1868, Oakdale became part of Ramsey County and had its own courthouse and jail. The town experienced growth during the late 19th century as it grew into a center for lumber and agricultural production. However, during World War II, when Minnesota's economy shifted to military production, Oakdale lost most of its businesses to war-related relocation or closure. After the war, prosperity returned as farming resumed and new subdivisions were constructed around the town square. In 2000, Oakdale merged with neighbouring communities of Maple Grove and Shakopee to form a larger combined community called Shakopee-Oakdale Township (SKT). Today, Oakdale remains an important cultural and commercial center within SKT.
