Gun barrels have been used in Oakdale, Minnesota for over a century. The first guns that were built in the town were 1853 pistols. The company that built these pistols was called "Savage Arms." Savage Arms was founded by Nathan Butler and his son Jacob Butler. In 1868, the company changed its name to "Henry Repeating Arms Company" and continued to build handguns and rifles. By 1903, Henry Repeating Arms had become a national company and production of rifles increased to 2 million per year. Production stopped in 1907 due to World War I but resumed three years later as part of the American arms industry rebound after war ended. In 1922, Henry Repeating Arms merged with Stevens & Sons Rifle Company to form Henry Stevens & Co., Incorporated.Production of handguns continued until 1957 when it was discontinued due to lack of demand from consumers.
Oakdale is located in Hennepin County, Minnesota. The population was 2,880 at the 2010 census. It is a small town that stands on a plateau overlooking the Mississippi River. Oakdale's downtown has two blocks of shops and restaurants, as well as a library and community center. The town was founded in 1881 by John Fitch and his wife Emma. They named it after an oak tree in their garden. In 1907, the Fitch family sold the land to the United States government for $2 million dollars to build Fort Snelling on it. The fort served as a military post until 1919 when it was decommissioned and its buildings were destroyed. In 1934, Dr. Everett Kelleher bought part of the Fort Snelling property from the US government for $5 million dollars and began to develop it into what is now known as Kelleher Park. He built several thousand homes there over thirty years before he died in 1984. Today, Kelleher Park contains many recreation areas such as tennis courts, golf courses, swimming pools, skateboarding hills and more besides his original house which still stands today at 316th Street West near Maple Avenue North (now called Brentwood Drive). In 1998, Oakdale voters passed an ordinance stating that they opposed same-sex marriage because they felt that this type of relationship should not be recognized by their townspeople or anyone else outside of its own residents who were not directly involved in wedding ceremonies themselves! This ordinance has been cited by some opponents of gay marriage as being one of the most discriminatory measures ever taken against any group within Oakdale!

The town began as a small farming community in 1857, on the east side of what is now Oakdale Lake. By 1925, Oakdale had become an incorporated town, and by 1960 its population had reached 1,000. Oakdale was founded in 1859 by Levi Sumner and his wife Lillie. The first store opened on the corner of Washington and Elm Streets. In 1865, Oakdale became a separate town. The town had a population of around 100 people. In the early 1800s, settlers in what is now Minnesota began to arrive and build farms. By 1859, there were already over 50 farms in the area. One of the first businesses to open in Oakdale was a grocery store called Barnes & Noble which operated from 1859-1868. In 1865, a post office was established at Oakdale with Cesar Estrada as its first postal clerk. The first school in Oakdale was built in 1870 and it served grades K-4 until it closed in 1978. In 1902, the Oakdale Athletic Club was founded and it remains one of the most important organizations within the community to this day. In 1966, Oakdale voters passed an ordinance establishing a library system which served students from kindergarten through 12th grade at no cost to residents. The library still operates today and has over 350 titles including books on history, anthropology, sociology, public policy, law enforcement and more
