It wasn't until the 1970s that assault weapons became a common sight on American streets.
Oakdale is a city in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 6,847 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis–St. Paul Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Oakdale" comes from the tree oak and valley. The first settlers were farmers who came to the area in 1851 from Michigan. They established a farm on what is now Main Street and named it Oakdale after their farmhouse in that year. In 1868, they built a post office here and began to sell goods through mail service to other rural communities in southeastern Minnesota. By 1870, they had also developed a small mill which produced flour for local grocery stores and for export to Iowa and Wisconsin. In 1881, the first school opened in Oakdale as part of an effort by local farmers to provide education for their children during hard times caused by drought and low agricultural prices. The school continued until 1915 when it was replaced by Maplewood School District No 2 which still operates today as Oakdale Community Schools (OCS). In 1924, the city council decided upon development plans called "The Prominence Plan". This plan proposed that Oakdale become one of several large cities located along Interstate 94 within 10 miles (16 km) of each other so that people could commute together for work or pleasure activities such as shopping or visiting family members living in larger towns or cities further away from I-94 exits. At that time there were no I-94 exits into Ramsey County; all trucks had to go down Hennepin Avenue and then turn east on International Boulevard before going into town limits of Ramsey County where they turned back again onto Hennepin Avenue and exited again into town limits of Oakdale at Main Street. This created some confusion because people driving into town Limits would think they were entering Ramsey County but really they were leaving it behind them! In 1974, construction began on I-394 which bypassed downtown St Cloud and moved traffic directly to arterial roads outside the city boundaries creating more efficient transportation options for residents within 3 miles (5 km) of each other without having to drive around downtown St Cloud while trying not to cross I-394! The success of this project led to increased business activity throughout downtown St Cloud as well as an increase in housing values which helped create stability for businesses within Downtown Saint Cloud during difficult times period

Oakdale is a small town in the central region of Minnesota. The population was 1,433 at the 2000 census. It is located on the east bank of the Crow River and close to Interstate 94. Oakdale was founded in 1872 by Scandinavian settlers, who named it after an oak tree that grew near their farmstead. The first school in Oakdale was built in 1873 and operated as a one-room wooden building until 1876, when a brick schoolhouse opened. In 1907, the town passed an ordinance establishing municipal boundaries, which included the current day core of Oakdale. The townspeople voted to name their new township Maplewood after their local maple tree. Maplewood remained our primary community name until we changed it to Oakdale in 2002. Volunteers have helped maintain both our old and new schools for many years; however, without continuous funding from state or federal agencies (except occasional grants), neither school could keep up with changing needs or changes in technology! For example, recent renovations have required replacement of all roofing elements including girders and flashing since 1999 – something that would not have been possible had we relied only on such sporadic funding sources over so many years! During my time as Mayor I worked hard to make sure that every resident has access to quality services like parks and recreation; keeping our roads clean; providing weatherization reimbursement for homeowners/landlords through MN Housing Authority; working with other communities within northcentralMinnesota to help promote economic development - these are just some examples where I took active leadership roles during my tenure as Mayor of Oakdale .
Oakdale was founded in 1837 by John Ritchie and was the original town in Dakota County. It became a village in 1907, and a city in 1912.
