The Oakdale Rifle and Pistol Club, Inc. was organized on January 10, 1903. The club’s first meeting was held in the home of Hiram Dutton. In 1916, the club purchased a rifle range from the Minnesota Gunnery School and began to use it for target shooting. On October 5, 1916, the club established its own paper mill at a location located east of town on Hwy 169. The mill produced Hat cherries which were distributed to members free of charge. In 1934, the club purchased a new rifle range from the Minneapolis Armoury and continued to use it for target shooting; however, this range had no firing lanes so shooters had to line up in order to shoot at targets. This added an extra layer of excitement to Range Day! The new range also had a large pond where shooters could put their rifles down and cool off while waiting for their turn to fire! On November 3rd, 1954, the club opened its second rifle range which was located west of town on Hwy 169; this ranged offered three firing lanes with different distances between each one so that shooters could have greater accuracy when shooting at long ranges. In 1961-1966, we leased land from ABI Arms Company in Falcon Heights and began making our own muzzleloaders utilizing parts made by ABI Arms Company employees during that time period (1961-1966). We also built our present clubhouse which was completed in 1968 using donations received from many friends and family members who resided withinOakdale area at that time! Since inception as a firearm hat society there have been many changes and progress made by both our organization and our community partners including: growing membership numbers due to more people joining gun clubs across America through online/phone registration options; hosting numerous national events such as NRA Annual Meetings & Events; developing youth programs involving handgun safety training; participating actively in multiple local activities including Rotary Clubs meets & participate in many other important civic initiatives throughout our community including sponsoring several “70s Mothers” meetings annually with proceeds going into cancer research funds

Oakdale is a small town in the geographic region of Minnesota. It is located in the Hibbing and Alexandria Township, Fulton County. The population was 1,783 at the 2000 census. The first settler in what is now Oakdale was James McGregor, who arrived in 1851. A post office called McGregor was established in 1854, and remained open until 1857. The community name originated from an oak tree that stood near the original site of the town. It wasn't until after World War II that Oakdale started to develop as a residential community. The population boomed during this time and new homes were built on undeveloped land around the town square. Some of these homes remain standing to this day, while others have been demolished or replaced by more recent buildings. One of the most famous residents of Oakdale was President Harry S Truman. After moving to Hibbing in 1945, he bought a house here and continued living there until his death in 1994. Another well-known resident during this time was Alice Pauline Mahoney, who played an important role in leading the anti-lynching movement throughout America during the early part of 20th century. Today, Oakdale remains a vibrant community with many active businesses and cultural offerings available for its residents and visitors alike. The town square continues to be one of its main attractions, as it has seen much growth over the years due to its popularity as a tourist destination!
