In 1924, Northfield opened its own high school which continues to operate today as NorthFIELD HS School District #2A schools serving students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade statewide. In addition thereto there are two alternative education systems operated within district boundaries: Academy Prep HSHS (#1), which provides PreK-8th grade educational services primarily within city limits; while Southridge Alternative Education System (#2), offers grades 9-12 instruction at various locations throughout Southdale Heights including businesses adjacent to IMAX theatre complex adjacent parkland borders neighborhoods inside city limits industrial areas such as Roycroft Road/Goodyear Rd., Dempster Rd./Everson Rd., Forest Home Dr./Nicollet Ave., White Bear Lake Blvd./Hennepin Ave., Maple Grove Blvd./Wrightville Rd. Additionally turf fields have been added for agricultural purposes: Eden Prairie Farm & Implement Ltd.'s old feed mill site now contains an 8 acre pond used for fishing; East Side Ag Co's former hog farm Site #1 across Dempster road also has farming potential slated for future development along with many other acres still undeveloped rural farmland surrounding townspeople residences Chaska Blvd/Lakebob Ln/Moses Lake Way give glimpse into early 20th century economy

McCormick soon established a flour mill and grain elevator there that processed wheat and other crops into flour for local markets around the Twin Cities and beyond. The company grew rapidly under McCormick's leadership; it had two mills by 1889 when he died in 1895. By 1910 it employed more than 2,500 people across multiple departments including engineering, marketing research, sanitation/pesticide production (the company developed DDT), transportation infrastructure development (including a new route from Minneapolis to St Paul), human resources management (including early job training programs for women), accounting services (later merged with Wrigley Inc.), and insurance sales (McCormick & Co.).
