In 1886 John Pate discovered an ancient petrified human foot bones on Long Prairie River east of present day North Branch; this discovery resulted in much excitement within the community and served as oneofthemajor clues supporting oral history claims that Vikings were active in this area long before they arrived in America during the Viking Age (1000–1050 CE). A few years later another petrified human foot bone was found just south of present day North Branch on Long Prairie River; again this discovery had significant media attention within the community and helped support claims that Vikings were also active here prior to their arrival in America about 1000 CE. This find provided circumstantial evidence which seemed to suggest that Vikings may have come through this area downriver from Lake Michigan sometime between 800 and 950 CE while other reports claim they may have landed directly on these shores about 1050 CE! However no definitive proof could be obtained until 1897 when two graves were uncovered along riverbank near modern day Maplewood-North Branchshowcasinga period between 1100–1200 CE associated with Norse settlement hereabouts! This earlier Viking activity helped spur development hereabouts throughout what would become known as “The Great Lakes Area” due to their respective significance: first being important transportation corridors linking all three lakes during times various cultures traded with each other via these waterways; second being an important center for religious beliefs among many Native American groups who practiced shamanism hereabouts; third being home to numerous businesses and industries striving to capitalize on economic opportunities emanating from larger markets located elsewhere within NorthernAmerica at that time; fourth having extensive land holdings including tracts stretching across both sides of what would become known as “The Big Muddy” - lying east-west along current day Interstate 94 corridor - making it an ideal location for farming operations given its fertile soil conditions and proximity to water supplies available year round.; finally fifth having enjoyed relative peace and prosperity relatively free from violent crime rates throughout most recent decades thanks largely to efforts by local police officers/officers employed by City Councilmember Rich Seversonwho has worked tirelesslyto provide quality policing services within his community since he took officein 2003!!!
