North Branch is located on the eastern border of Ramsey County and is bordered by Grand Forks to the north, Hastings to the east, and Elk River to the south. It has a humid continental climate with mild winters and hot summers. The first white people in what is now North Branch were pioneer traders who came from Illinois in 1846. They named their community after a branch of the North American river that they had seen from their farmhouse near Elk River. The first post office was established in 1849, and it continued to be called North Branch until 1907. The early settlers were mostly farmers who grew crops such as corn, beans, peas, potatoes, and wheat. In 1870, coal mining began operations in nearby Grand Forks and led to increased demand for goods produced in North Branch. This also brought industry into town which helped spur economic growth over time. In addition to its economy-boosting industries, North Branch also became known for its beautiful architecture during this time period (particularly around town square). Many homes here were built during an era when fine craftsmanship was key to success in this area. By 1920 there were over 100 businesses operating in town – making it one of the most vibrant places on earth at that point! However, times have changed since then; especially since World War II ended things dramatically for many rural communities across America. As a result of these shiftslocal jobs have dwindled as well as funding for local infrastructure projects/revivals have taken place throughout much of2001-2010 due both locally sourced revenue declines combined with increasing competition from nearby cities/towns while overall violent crime rates remain high despite some general drops). Despite these challenges however there are pockets where progress has been made: A few recent projects include renovation/repair work on several local churches that date back to 1890 including St John’s Evangelist Church (which reopened following $30K renovation), conversion of two historic long abandoned houses into apartments (one dating back to 1886), new construction along Elm Street between Main Street & 2nd Avenue – resulting in developing 5 properties totaling 145 feet2 +/- sq ft., remodeling 3 existing buildings onto more modern designs inside & outside single family housing units(including a brand new restaurant) & additions totalling 432 sq ft + 4 business spaces downtown (1st Ave corridor)

North Branch is located on the banks of the river Saint Croix near its confluence with the Mississippi River. The land that would become North Branch was first settled by Finnish immigrants in 1852. At that time, it was known as Sioux Falls Township and lay within present-day Crystal City and Hastings townships. In 1857, when Rice County was organized, parts of what would become Ramsey County were included in it and became part of North Branch Township. In 1865, after Iowa had been admitted to the Union as a state, North Branch township became Dakota Territory Number 3; it remained so until 1898 when it became part of Ramsey County again under Minnesota statehood. In 1892, David Brown opened a store in what is now North Branch and began trading goods developed along railroads connecting eastern Canada with points westward via Illinois andMinnesota's Great Lakes region. That year saw another boom for commerce as settlers arrived from all over America looking for new territory to call their own: business boomed as farmers brought their herds of livestock to market during winter months while merchants bought flour from local mills and other products exported from American shores around Lake Superior or downriver onthe Mississippi River system.. The arrival of these new settlers created opportunities for trade not only within North Branch but also with adjacent communities such as Hastings and Crystal City which experienced rapid growth at this time because there weren't any major transportation arteries linking these towns together
