The first rifles were fired in New Hope on May 4th, 1854 by George Washington Carver. This was the first time that rifles were used for hunting in New Hope. Rifle Shooting Club was formed soon after to help promote rifle shooting in the community. The club met monthly at different locations until 1865 when they moved to their current location at 6 Main Street. Rifle Shooting ClubHelp promote rifle shooting with these monthly meetings which helped develop the sport of rifle shooting across the United States. In 1876, there were only 10 members of Rifle Shooting Club but within 5 years membership had grown to over 100 people from all walks of life who participated in meets throughout the community including farmers, mechanics, lumberjacks, teachers and even city goers! Today there is still a strong connection between Rifle Shooting Club and the community here inNew Hope as we participate together in meetups & events year-round!

New Hope is a small town in northeastern Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area. New Hope is home to Hennepin County's courthouse and the only post office in the county. The first European settlers of what would become New Hope were Dutch people who started out as farmers around 1750. They cleared land and built homes near present-day downtown New Hope in 1764. In 1824, Minnesota Territory was organized into two counties: Hennepin and Saint Louis Counties. The new territorial government assigned land east ofcurrent St Anthony Falls to Saint Louis County while giving Hennepin County to John Aiken (future President US Senator from South Dakota). In 1827, a group of Canadian lumbermen led by Hudson Bay Company Captain David Thompson founded Fort Snelling on an island in Isabella Harbor just downstream frompresent-day New Hope. The fort served as a trading post for early pioneers until it was destroyed by fire in 1829. Today, parts of Fort Snelling can be seen from downtown NewHope across la Lake Superior

Today, New Hope is a thriving community with a rich history that includes some of America's most significant moments. In 1855, Father Edward C. Smith and his wife, Catherine, founded New Hope, Minnesota on lands acquired from American Indian tribes under Treaty 7 (1851). At the time, Dakota Territory was part of what was then known as Missouri River Country. The village grew rapidly due to its location at the crossroads of two important trails - one leading to Sioux City in Iowa and another connecting Minneapolis with St Paul in Minnesota. In 1862, New Hope became the capital of Dakota Territory following the admission of that area into the United States; this event helped spur development within the town itself and led to many new businesses opening up throughout its early years. During World War I (1914-1918), New Hope served as an important training ground for American soldiers; many famous veterans such as Carl Von Clausewitz and John F Kennedy were born or raised here. Additionally, NewHope was home to several key events which took place during America's second war against Germany - including Operations Northwoods (May 1-3 1942) which resulted in more than 120 Americans being killed; also notable were Operation Torch (November 8-11 1942), which led to Nazi Germany's unconditional surrender; and Allied landing at Normandy on June 6 1944 which ended World War II
