In 1881, local farmers organized a group to purchase 640 acres (2 km2) of land east of downtown for development into a town called Ridgeview Township. The first settler to arrive in 1881 was John Ransom, who purchased two lots on Main Street near Center Road in what is now known as Ransom Square. The first school in Ridgeview Township was built on lot #12 on South Boulevard just north ofCenter Road in 1882-83 by teachers from neighboring East Stroudsburg School District #5A. After Lumberton Elementary School closed down during World War I due to lack of student enrollment along with other schools within township boundaries closures caused by war efforts, Ridgeview Township citizens formed their own special committee - also chaired by MrRansom -to study options for reopening these schools including purchasing land adjoining Lumberton but without any bids received until November 7th 1916 when MrsLillie Slaton became elected trustee aided by her husband Tom Slaton who served as secretary treasurer during that time period when all trustees were elected annually instead Of having nominations like we do today! In 1922-23 another school building been constructed - this time across Main Street from original Ransom Square site becoming known as “Mound View High School” which continues serving students through present day although it does have some modern features like air conditioning – still one of Canada’s most popular high Schools! On September 10th 1927 an agreement between Chicago Railroad Company Limited Partnership and representatives from Indian Territory Commissioners resulted In tracks being laid within township limits east/northeast of downtown Crossing Creek thereby making Mounds View a part thereof forever! This event marked not only commencement but official incorporation into Minnesota & U S history!
