Mounds View is a city in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 26,883 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Ramsey County. The Mounds View area was first settled by Native Americans in the 17th century. The city was founded in 1873 as a result of the arrival of railroad commissioners from Minneapolis to survey land for a line connecting those cities. In 1902, Mounds View became one of two cities in Ramsey County; it remained so until 1967 when it merged with Stroudsburg to form what is now known as Ramsey County. Mound City (now called Moundsview) was an ancient Pembina Indian village located on the banks of the Missouri River near present-day Mound City, Iowa. According to legend, Wanamaker built Wabasha Dam and town on that site in 1854 as part of his efforts to improve navigation on the river through central Minnesota and westward into Iowa. He named both towns after himself—Wabasha for his store at the dam and City for his new community near downtown Minneapolis. Wabasha Dam still stands along the Missouri River today and offers views over downtown Minneapolis across Lake Minnetonka

The economy of Mounds View relies largely on agriculture and manufacturing; however, recent investments have included new shopping centers and restaurants along with several small businesses which support the community's diversity. Moundview is one of only two villages remaining in Dakota County that still retains its Scandinavian cultural roots (the other being Two Harbors). This fact has led to various cultural events each year such as Viking Days during July or August which celebrates traditional Scandinavian culture and practices within the village. The Village Museum features exhibits about local history and life within the community including photos and artifacts from throughout its history

Mounds View is a city in and the county seat of Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 24,845 at the 2010 census. The Mounds View community began as a small farming village in 1851 and quickly became one of the most important agricultural towns inMinnesota. Mounds View has preserved its rural character while becoming an important commercial and shopping center for the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The first settlers to what is now Mounds View were farmers who came from Illinois in 1841. They named their town after a group of mounds that they had seen on their journey out West. By 1860, however, the residents ofMound View had decided that they wanted to be called "Ramsey". In 1861, they voted to change their name to Moundsview because it was proposed by Jno Hargrave and approved by the board of directors. The name stuck and today's City hall is located on Main Street within walking distance of many old pioneer homes dating back to before Ramsey County was formed. In 1863, General Order No 4 was issued which stated: "No person shall enter this Township without a license from said Township Board." This order was designed to prevent squatters from living on public land without proper permits or compensation. Consequently, many early businesses were located along State Highway 7 near where it currently meets University Avenue; such as Jiffy Lube (now Lowe's), Woolworths, Sears & Roebuck (now Kmart), Herrick's grocery store, Harry Anderson's bakery and several other stores until it was closed down during World War II due to lack of demand for goods produced in wartime industries. 2 years later another order was issued which prohibited any assembly or procession except under specific circumstances provided that all participants carried guidelines identifying them as representatives from local organizations or groups interested in peaceable demonstrations only within sight of said organization's meeting place not more than 1/4 mile away from any public housekeepers with directions thereto given at least 3 times daily...It should further be noted that no speaker or demonstrator may take part in any act tending either directly or indirectly to disturb public peace or property...This order continued until repealed by Order No 6 dated November 5th 1915." These orders helped keep Ramsey County peaceful during some very tense moments during the late 1800s when much violence took place across Minnesota

The development at Mounds View was spurred on by railroad companies that were looking for a new place to build their terminals and workshops.
