Mounds View is a town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,851 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area and has a strong agricultural background. The first gun magazines were established in Mounds View in 1879 by two farmers, John Ahearn and James Sheppard. Moundview Gun Club met on July 4th each year until 1906 when it merged with the Rural Fire Department Rifle Association to become the first all-volunteer fire department in Minnesota. The city of Minneapolis began annexing portions of Ramsey County starting in the early 20th century and through annexation increased its population by about 50%. In 1920, Stroudsburg Township annexed Mounds View; this gave Mounds View an official municipal status which lasted until 1925 when it was again annexed by Minneapolis. In 1930, Maplewood Township annexed Mounds View while Stillwater Township annexes it twice (1935 & 1938). In 1944 Hennepin County annexed parts of Moundview including much of east side that was now part of Bloomington due to advances in road construction during World War II. In 1955, the Town Board voted not to annex Stillwater Township because they felt that it would be unwise for their small community to compete with larger townships on issues such as water resources or infrastructure development (still a common practice today). This decision set off a series of skirmishes between township officials and the town board over subsequent years as smaller communities tried to gain annexation into larger municipalities without proper consideration from their own governing bodies.

In 1949, when it was organized into Ridgway Township #5 through annexation by Stroudsburg Township #4, Mumps Point Naval Air Station came into being within the boundaries of Mumps View School District #2 due to its location just south ofClear Lake on Bluffs Island - one mile offshore from shoreline! In 1971-1972 construction began on NAS Glen Cove - making it Minnesota's only operational naval air station outside Alaska! NAS Glen Cove transitioned from an Admiralty Shipyard-developed Navy airfield to its current status as an active USAF installation with over 30 hardened aircraft shelters during FY2013!. NAS Glen Cove remainsMinnesota's largest navy base and has been home to Republic F-16 Hornets since September 2013! NAS Glen Cove hosts defense contractor visits each week by leading members of Congress and their staffs! Today many people who grew up around here know only one language fluently: English! However some people still enjoy learning other languages such as Spanish or German because those cultures have some connection with nearby Duluth or Grand Forks
