Mounds View is a city in west-central Minnesota, United States. The population was 6,883 at the 2010 census. Mounds View is part of the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area. It began as an agricultural community and now has a population of over 12,000 people and 2 schools with over 1,100 students in grades K-12. The town started out as an agricultural community called Indian Pueblo on the east bank of the Saint Croix River near its mouth on the Mississippi River. The first settler in Mounds View was Isaac Stinson in 1855. He bought 3 acres (1 km2) of land from David Duchovny for $150 cash and built a log cabin thereon. He named his settlement "Moundview" after nearby Mound Lake which he had seen while hunting deer in Canada's then Dakota Territory. In 1860, John Wickersham bought 3 more acres (1 km2) from Stinson and moved to what is now known as Wicker Park within Mounds View proper but continued to call his new settlement "Indian Pueblo". A post office was established at Indian Pueblo by N/A in 1865; it was renamed Mounds View Post Office in 1871 when it opened along with other post offices throughout Minnesota due to statewide efforts to reduce illiteracy among rural residents. By 1890, all but one of the original settlers had died or moved away due to various reasons such as war fever or economic hardship caused by railroad development across the state into what is now north Minneapolis/St Paul County. In 1893, James Goodyear leased 1 acre (0·30 km2) at corner of Fourth Street and Hennepin Avenue from Jesse Landon for $375 cash and set about building a cotton gin on this site that would become Goodyear’s largest factory ever located outside England or Scotland until World War II; it became one of America’s most important industrial centers during that time period thanks to its innovations in textile production using power looms). Goodyear also founded the National Cottonseed Association which developed modern methods for growing cotton using irrigation systems not possible before; these methods allowed American farmers achieve yields much greater than those achieved anywhere else until widespread adoption of mechanical breeding led to lower yields today around world After World War I ended with armistice agreement ending global conflict, many farmers returned homebringing with them their machines needed for agriculture - particularly large cotton gin factories being erected all over America including some still operating decades later - giving birth once again to another boomtown: MoundsView MoundVIEW also experienced another boomtown growth spurt following World War II since demand for munitions escalated wartime fears were realized food shortages might develop postwar years lacked any sortie capability naval vessels had operated off U S soil during peacetime so few munitions could be stockpiled thus prices skyrocketed making cigarettes very difficult item obtainable without rationing

Mounds View was established in 1851 as a result of an act of the Minnesota Legislature. Mounds View is named after Chief Sacagawea, who helped lead American forces to victory over Native Americans in what is now known as the Battle of Little Big Horn. The first settler in Mounds View was John Lowry and his family. A post office was founded at Mounds View on November 1, 1856, and remained in operation until August 15, 1959. The history of Moundsview goes back even further than that: it has been mentioned by way of oral tradition since before European arrival in this area. One story tells of a man named Hiawatha who came to North America some time between 1300 and 1400 AD and built a village near present-day Minneapolis/St Paul; he called it "Moundville." Some believe that he may have been buried there still today (in unmarked mounds). Another account suggests that Hiawatha's people built their homes around two large earth balls which they used for religious ceremonies; these were never disturbed or demolished but remain standing today as part of the town's official landscapefare! It wasn't until 1851 when legislation became necessary to establish new towns within newly created Rochester Township; this act led to the founding of Mounds View by John Lowry and his wife Anna with assistance from other pioneers including George Stephenson and Elijah Whitehead. At its peak population during 1850-1860, MumpsView had 125 residents living on seven farmsteads scattered throughout three miles (5 kilometers) northeast of downtown Rochester proper; all but one were destroyed by fire within 10 years following settlement – making it one of the most rapidly growing communities ever established in what would become Minnesota! mayorial elections were held every other year through 1860 due to township boundaries changing frequently – so continuous growth could not be guaranteed without mayoral approval! In 1861 Mayor James Sibley recommended appointing future state Senator David Healy as township trustee instead – which led toHealy developing land northwest OF town limits for development including erection of a mansion later known as "Mumps View". In 1870 Healy Purchased 2nd & 3rd Streets from Ebenezer Bowerman for $4000!!! This marked an important milestone as prior to this purchase only wealthy individuals could afford such extravagance!! An attractive brick schoolhouse also soon appeared on property east OF town limits - serving grades K-8 until 1938 when East High School opened nearby replacing pioneer schools which either burned down or simply didn't last long enough!! The Turner family purchased majority interest in East High School from Hoellenbeck Bros./Larson Bros./Norman Olson Nov 1978 - becoming sole owners & operators thereof thru 2018 !! By 1890 however, many properties east OFtown limits had been abandoned & sold off piecemeal -> creating what we know today as Old Town !! Today virtually everything within earshot Of modern day city Limits boundaries occurred during those early days !! Even tho' much has changed since then -> our community continues to thrive!!"
