The city was founded in 1854 by Danish immigrants and named for the high mounds near their farmstead. It grew rapidly during the 1870s and 1880s as settlers arrived from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and other parts of Scandinavia. In 1902 Mounds View became a city Limits addition to Minneapolis.
Mounds View is a small community in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,521 at the 2010 census. It is northwest of Minneapolis and south of St. Paul. Mounds View is bordered by Maplewood on the east, Eden Prairie on the west, White Earth Bayou on the north, and Elk River on the south. The first people to live in what is now Mounds View were farmers who came from eastern Canada in 1847-48. They built a log cabin on a hill overlooking their farmstead and named it after Mount Pleasant in Ontario. The original town site was located near where today's Main Street meets Park Boulevard. A post office was established at Mounds View in 1875, and it remained in operation until 1959. In 1895, Swedish immigrants erected two wood frame homes known as "The Lighthouse" and "The Dock". These homes are currently used as offices for the county government. In 1907–08, local landowners donated land to build a public school which still stands today - Mound View High School (now Twin Cities Technical College). construction began on this school in 1907 but finished six years later than planned due to an Elasmobranch eruption that destroyed part of downtown Saint Paul; however, plans to rebuild continued through 1909-10 until finally starting work November 10th 1910 with parts of Main Street between State Avenue N & Q Streets being torn down for the new building including: gymnasium (now called MNU Arena), threeScience classrooms/exhibits (now MNU Arts Center), Mrs./Mr.'s house/ garage/ workshops (now MNU Resource Library), addition to existing church (St John's Evangelical Lutheran Church) across from TCHEHS – all with names still associated with these structures today! After high school students left for college or other opportunities during World War I there wasn't enough money available to finance another high school so class sizes increased resulting in closed schools during 1922-23; however classes reopened again after war supplies arrived and enrollment increased allowing for purchase of additional property making future closures highly improbable! This allowed for growth once again leading to present day situation…. Today's economy depends mainly upon agriculture with some Manufacturing businesses sprinkled throughout but there are also many small shops and restaurants within walking distance providing variety everyday life options while maintaining tight overall community cohesion despite diversity found among individuals living here such as: Scandinavian descent residents have their own grocery store; Asians have unique restaurants serving Chinese food etc.; African Americans dominate nightlife activitiesmainly participating through bars & nightclubs along main drag thru out town while Caucasian residents attend churches services along Highway 371 closest thing they have access too outside town limits

Mounds View, Minnesota: A Pioneer Settlement Mounds View was founded in 1853 by a group of farmers from Illinois. The settlers were looking for a place to build their homes and raise crops. They found the site on the banks of the Mississippi River. The first settler, William Armstrong, built a cabin and named it after his home state of Illinois. In 1854, other farmers arrived and began to build log cabins. By 1865, there were 25 buildings in Mounds View. The town started trading with nearby towns and villages. In 1869, the town added a schoolhouse and post office to its infrastructure. In 1870-71, two more schools were constructed - one for boys and one for girls. Mound View became an incorporated community in 1872. The population of Moundsview grew rapidly as people moved into the area to start new lives and businesses. By 1911, the population had reached 2200 residents. Over time, MoundView made some important advancements such as developing water supplies and erecting bridges over the Mississippi River. However, many challenges remain today such as lack of appeal for restauraunts or high crime rates
Mounds View was a community in the present-day County of Ramsey, Minnesota, United States. The site of the community is now occupied by the Mound View Elementary School and Park. The first settler in what is now Mounds View was Levi Coffin, who arrived about 1854. A post office was established at Mounds View in 1865, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1878. Mounds View had a schoolhouse from 1868 to 1877, but no other buildings were erected there. In 1893, local students founded the first high school in Ramsey County; Moundview High School opened on September 1, 1893. It continued operate until it closed in 1951.
