Moorhead is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota, on the Iron Range. Moorhead is the county seat of Morrison County and was founded in 1884 by Carl A. Moorhead as a sawmill town. The population was 24,898 at the 2010 census. The city is located on the border of two counties: Morrison County to the north and Rice County to the south. It occupies a small area within both Morrison and Rice Counties, making it one of only two cities in Minnesota with no land borders other than its own municipal boundaries. Today's downtown industry is largely composed of services - including health care provider Caremark Inc., retail favorites Macy’s or JCPenney, large office buildings housing banks like State StreetCorp., Legg Mason & Co., Minneapolis-based UnitedHealth Group and Target Corporation - along with restaurants such as Bistro du Moulin Rouge (now closed) and Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewery which used to occupy much space near State StreetCorp.'s main entrance before they moved out into larger digs just north of Interstate 94 last year; all told there are over 100 businesses operating inside or outside governmentally-owned buildings alone within Downtown Moorhead boundary lines now that less than 1/3rdths of original downtown acreage remains from when it first formed more than 50 years ago! It should be noted that while Downtown does have some high-end commercial establishments located amongst several blocks away from Governmental Buildings on University Avenue between Seventh Street South and Eighth Street North - these days generally considered Midtown due to its concentration of corporate headquarters - nearly all major economic activity currently taking place within Municipal limits takes place within 500 feet or less directly adjacent thereto! This proximity – combined with continuing reliance upon transportation options via I-94 – has resulted in little evidence whatsoever that Downtown would become even remotely viable as either an entertainment destination or business district if either side begins trying to annex or control portions thereof! A number redevelopment efforts are underway across several miles towards Midtown proper although they have yet to produce any tangible results beyond increasing surface area occupied by businesses rather then generating new jobs & residential units...A realignment project resulting from Rapid transit construction next door will provide much needed impetus though however!

Moorhead, Minnesota is a small town located in the heart of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The history of Moorhead begins with the arrival of General John C. Frémont in 1847. Frémont was on his way to explore what became known as the Great Lakes region and encountered Native American Indians on his journey. He decided to establish a post at Moorhead, which he named Fort Pringle after James Fenton Pringle, an officer with Major George Armstrong Custer's Army during the Indian Wars. The settlement grew rapidly and by 1865 it had a population of 1,500 people. In 1875, Moorhead won its first municipal election and incorporation as a city. The city quickly began to grow and by 1907 it had a population of over 15,000 people. In 1916, Moorhead was selected as the site for America's first airfield and served as an important flying base during World War I. After World War I ended, the airfield was decommissioned and various uses were assigned to it until it was sold to the Minneapolis-St Paul Air Traffic Control District in 1951. The district used it for many years before finally demolishing it in 1984 to make way for new development. Moorhead has experienced many changes over its history including white flight from rural areas towards urban centers during the 1930s; rapid growth following World War II; suburban development throughout the 1950s; African American migration beginning in 1965; changeover from manufacturing to service industry during the 1980s; budget cuts resulting in significant job loss during 1990s/2000s; current economic conditions which have led to large reductions in government spending and layoffs across various sectors including education
