Bullets in Moorhead, Minnesota date back to the 1860s. One of the more significant incidents involving firearms took place on October 10, 1876, when a group of men from Moorhead opened fire on a group of Sioux Indians who were camping near the town. The Sioux attackers were killed or captured and two bullets from one of the rifles that was used in this attack remain lodged in a tree today. The first revolver in Moorhead was created by George Wesson and introduced to the community on July 12, 1875. Between 1865 and 1870, about 120 handguns were imported into Moorhead from various states including Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Missouri. These handguns were used within the communities for self-defense purposes as well as hunting and target shooting events. In 1892, an eight-round revolver was purchased by John Hargrave from J.P. Morgan & Co., which is still in use today at local gun shows and other events. In 1923, three pistols were manufactured by Nicolle Manufacturing Company of Minneapolis with 5 rounds each instead of the standard 8 rounds found on later models. These pistols served as police officers’ sidearms until they were replaced by regulation issue revolvers during World War II. Moorhead has had its share of tragedy as well; several shootings have taken place within the town limits over time including: On September 15th 1984 four young people ages 14-18 died after being shot at random outside their home; On December 3rd 1985 a manhunt began for shooter Michael McVeigh after he shot two people at a gas station; On February 14th 1987 21-year old Julieann Nichols was fatally shot while driving home from work when someone driving following them pulled up behind her car.; Finally, there was the infamous acquittal verdict given against David Koresh on April 6th 1993 after jurors deliberated for hours without finding any evidence linking him to any crimes

In recent years, Moorhead has become an important cultural and educational center for western Minnesota and northern Illinois due to its large number of universities and colleges and its location within easy reach of major highways including Interstate 94 (the "Mississippi"), Interstate 35W (the "Minnesota Central Expressway"), State Highway 60 (the "Hennepin Avenue Corridor"),and US-2 (the "Iowa Highway").

Moorhead is a small, rural town in the U.S. state of Minnesota, located on the banks of the Mississippi River. Moorhead was founded in 1859 by English settlers who named it for John Moor, a gentleman farmer and fur trader who had accompanied General James K. Polk's expedition to Mexico City during the Mexican-American War. The first school was organized in 1866 and the first post office opened in 1870. The town became an agricultural center after settlers discovered rich deposits of coal and other minerals near present-day Moorhead. Manufacturing started as early as 1889 when a foundry was established to produce high quality boots and shoes for local farmers and their families. The company continued to operate until 1918 when it closed its doors due to economic conditions. A new foundry was open in 1919 but closed again within two years because of lack of demand from local farmers. The town experienced another industrial boom during World War II when Paper Mill No 1 (later renamed Republic Paper) began production at what is now Menasha Road just east of downtown. The mill produced paper products such as cigarettes, beer, chewing gum and other consumer goods for local consumers and soldiers abroad. After World War II ended, the plant stopped operations due to low demand from locals but it continued operating as a research lab until 1978 when it closed down permanently due to environmental problems caused by lead pollution from nearby former engine plants
