Moorhead, Minnesota is a town located in Le Sueur County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,876 at the 2010 census. Moorhead was founded in 1872 by Norwegian immigrants and has been the county seat of Le Sueur County since 1879. The first settlers to Moorhead were Norwegian farmers who arrived from Trondheim, Norway on July 26, 1872. The farm that became Moorhead was donated by Captain John Nelsen and his family. The village of Moorhead was established on February 12, 1874 by a group of twenty-four colonists who had traveled from Dodge City, Kansas Territory. The original plat for the Village of Moorhead included a square mile (0.8 km²) of land measuring in area and containing three buildings: an agricultural schoolhouse and two churches - the First Methodist Church (now known as Christ Lutheran) and the Second Presbyterian Church (now known as Stonestreet Baptist). In 1880, eleven years after its founding, the Village of Moorhead passed an ordinance allowing for female voting beginning with election to board of trustees in Marchennial year. In 1902 it passed an ordinance authorizing public schools through issue bonds which would be repaid with interest bearing receipts from state appropriations made available for education purposes only within the limits set forth in those ordinances; this law led to establishment of four public schools within the boundaries set forth in that plat including one denominational school - First Christian School which opened October 15th 1903 - followed by Third Grade High School opening January 7th 1907 under direction of Mrs Burt Huckleberry; Fourth Grade High School opened November 2nd 1912 under direction of Mrs Minerva MacLeod following instruction offered by Miss Anna Cushing during a short term occupancy at Third Grade High School; Fifth Grade High School began operations September 25th 1913 when Instruction began offered from May 3rd 1914 thru August 10th 1915 thru Miss Jane Cook taking over vacated facilities at Fourth Grade High School - all operated successfully until 1921 when Special Education Classes were added to provide instruction for Blind students starting on October 1st 1916 thru May 30th 1917 thru Mrs Florence Olson offering instruction through contract with Minneapolis private school district #5206 This history provides context to what is today known as "Moorhead",Minnesota's oldest community dating back over 120 years!

Moorhead, Minnesota is a town in central Minnesota and the county seat of Morrison County. Moorhead was founded in 1854 as a post office on the east side of Cascade Lake. The population was 997 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Moorhead was founded in 1854 by two farmers, John Atherton and James Henson, after they surveyed land that would become Cascade Lake. At first, locals used the name "Benton" because it was easier to remember than "Moorhead". In 1875, when Moorhead incorporated as a town, it had a population of only six people. But over time, growth began to occur due to its location on an important trade route between Minneapolis and St. Paul. By 1900, Moorhead had grown to 1,500 residents and became one of the most important towns in centralMinnesota thanks to its booming economy and convenient location for transportation links. In 1902, Moorhead voters ratified a new municipal charter which granted them more power over their own affairs including choosing their own city manager and mayor (although these powers were later taken away). This growth continued until World War II when Moorhead's economy slumped due to wartime shortages of goods such as flour and lumber. However, during the war years some new businesses were founded such as Goodyear Woolen Mills which continues today as an internationally known manufacturer of textiles based out of downtown Minneapolis/St Paul
Moorhead was founded in 1868 by Danish immigrants. The town was named for thebroad valley that runs through it. In 1870, a sawmill and gristmill were built in the town, and later a flour mill as well. The population of Moorhead grew rapidly during the early 1900s, and soon there were several businesses in the town. In 1912, Moorhead erected its first school, which served the community until 1965. In 1955, Moorhead became the home of Minnesota State University-Moorhead. At that time, it was one of only two public universities in Minnesota. Over time, MSU-Moorhead has expansion into new campuses in Morristown (2006), Winona (2008), Dodge City (2010), and Duluth (2013). The university now occupies an entire city block on Main Street near downtown after purchasing land fromthe municipality for $15 million in 2016.
