Monticello is a small town in south-central Minnesota, United States. It was once the home of the Monticello Rifle and Pistol Club, which was founded in 1892. The club moved to its current location on Main Street in 1912. The club has held annual meets at Monticello since 1916. The club's collection of firearms and shooting supplies dating back to 1892 includes weapons made by Winchester, Colt, Remington, Savage and other major manufacturers. The museum features exhibits on gunsmithing and shotguns from throughout history. Monticello also hosts the national championships for traphooting and skeet shooting every two years.

Monticello is a town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The first post office in Monticello was established on November 9, 1872, and the town was platted on December 1, 1871. The present name is derived from the Italian word "montisello" meaning high mountain peak. The peak was sighted by helicopter pilots while flying over Monticello in 1984 and it became an official nickname for the town. In 1957 Monticello opened its own airport which served as the home airport of Interair Airlines until it merged with Air America in 2001. Monticello is a small town in Hibbing, Minnesota, United States. The population was 792 at the 2000 census. Monticello is named after the Monticello Estate which was settled by Andrew Johnson in 1865. The town was founded on July 1, 1887 when the first post office opened in Monticello Township. It grew rapidly due to railroad construction and its location near Hibbing and Superior served as an important transportation center for early settlers. In 1915, the townsite of Monticello and four other small villages were consolidated into one municipality under the name of Hibbing. The merger resulted in a significant economic boom for the city of Hibbing and led to increased military buildups surrounding the area; this also helped spur development in adjacent communities such as Watertown and Maplewood. Today, Monticello remains a small town with limited services but it has experienced some recent success including becoming one of only a few municipalities to be awarded approval fromMinnesota's Department of Transportation for building light rail transit lines within their boundaries (the rest have been approved through ballot measures). Monticello's rich history can be traced back to its earliest days when Andrew Johnson set up his estate here following his election as president in 1864. The estate became an important stop on Johnson's routes during his campaigns throughout Minnesota and he frequently visited it while traveling westward along the Great Lakes region. After serving two terms as president, Johnson handed over control of the property to his son-in-law Ulysses S. Grant in 1881; however, he retained much ownership until his death in 1901. In addition to its long association withpresidential family members, Monticello also played host to many notable figures throughout its history including Alexander Graham Bell who made several visits here between 1907-1909; Reverend George Armstrong Custer who died at nearby Buffalo Gap on October 17th, 1890; General David Hunter who surrendered at Wounded Knee on December 9th, 1890; Commodore John Dennison who supervised operations during World War I;and Hiaasen Pitaro who built several large homes hereabouts including Oneida Lake House which still stands today and is used as a museum open to the public* (*See below) .
