Monticello is located in Ramsey County, Minnesota, and the Gunsmith Shop Museum is located on the town's north side. The museum was founded in 1958 by Monticello resident and gunsmith Don Wiegand. It is the only museum of its type in the United States devoted to firearms history. The Gunsmith Shop Museum has a library with more than 2,000 books on firearms and ammunition from around the world. The first guns were made in Monticello by John Hostetter. He built a rifle at his home in 1793 that he named the "Hornet." In 1806, Jacob Kossuth bought an old artillery piece from Hostetter. The gun was renamed the "Osprey" and used as a militia weapon until 1838. In 1858, Don Wiegand opened up his own gun shop on Main Street in Monticello. At that time, there were only about 10gun shops across America! Don started selling rifles and shotguns, along with ammunition and parts for them. His shop quickly became one of the most well-known firearm dealers in Minnesota! Don’s son-in-law Gustavus Hage began working at Don’s shop after high school graduation in 1912. Gustavus was responsible for all aspects of sales including marketing, customer service, inventory control, shipping/delivery (including handling), and repairs/maintenance; as well as running the show during busy seasons when there weren’t enough employees available to do it all! Gustavus' widow Anna soon took over management of operations; continuing her husband's legacy of providing quality customer service while also keeping things organized so that everything ran smoothly throughout those many years! In 2001 Anna passed away; leaving her son Marcus to continue managing operations as well as keep everything organized through email communication between both families). A shotguns with a double action (D) trigger pull require an open-backed pistol grip because their triggers offer more resistance when pulled than a single action (S) trigger pull handguns do. Pistols with open backs tend to be more stable when fired due to their design whereas pistols with closed back guns tend not to work as well if your hand gets tired after long sessions of firing at close range because there's less space between your palm and barrel

Monticello is a small town in the far northwest corner of Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Rochester– Monroe County Metropolitan Statistical Area and is the namesake for Monticello Township. Monticello was platted in 1854 by Major General Augustus Beecher who named it after his home on Mount Auburn in Massachusetts. The name may be connected with two marble quarries located within three miles of town: One near Beecher's home and another just east of present-day Monticello High School. In 1885, Monticello became one of sixteen towns consolidated into Rochester, Minnesota as part of that city's growth. After years of decline and abandonment, Monticello revival began in the early 1990s when developers bought nearly all remaining land in town and began to build houses there. Today, most residents are self-employed farmers or fishermen who maintain a small town pattern of government and economy. Banking and insurance are majorstay industries here; many residents also own businesses or farm enterprises outside their homes. The post office operated from 1865 to 1964 (Monticello had no ZIP code). In 1964,Monticelliook over from Rochestown as the new ZIP code for Rochester-Monroe County; it has remained unchanged since then

They named their community after Mount Vernon, Virginia, which they had seen as an ideal place to live because of its elevation and fertile soil. In 1865, when Congress created a new state out of part of Dakota Territory, Monticello became part of it. Monticello remained a small town until World War II when it grew rapidly due to post-war demand for housing construction throughout Minneapolis and St Paul. The population peaked at over 10,000 during World War II but declined quickly afterward due to various factors such as economic decline and suburbanization. However, since 2000 Monticello has slowly begun to resurgence as a retirement community with limited commercial activity
