Minnetonka, Minnesota is a small town in the state of Minnesota. The population was 5,202 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Minnetonka was founded in 1881 by white fur traders as a trading post on the Red River. The name "Minnetonk" (meaning "place with salt water") was given to it by early American settlers for its location on raised ground beside a body of freshwater that drained into Lake Superior. The first post office in Minnetonka was established in 1881, and until 1912 it functioned as a village within the city of Minneapolis. In 1912, Minnetonka separate from Minneapolis and became an independent municipality under the jurisdiction of the new Stribling Municipal corporation. In 1956, Minnetonka became one of twelve communities located along Interstate 94 between Duluth and Green Bay which were placed under section 811 of the Consolidated Act giving their residents voting rights only in matters pertaining to their community councils or boards instead of general city council meetings like those currently possessed by all other I-94 communities statewide excepting Bloomington-Normal where citizens are allowed to vote on any issue not specifically addressed by their governing board or councilmember designation (subject to re-apportionment following each decennial Census). This program has been known locally as "The Modified MINNETONKA Initiative". Residents also elect one representative to serve on their township’s school board; however, this position does not have any major bearing upon day-to-day operations within their community councils/boards. In 2012, following passage through MN Legislature called for voter approval for additional annexation into neighboring Twinsburg Township effective January 1st 2013 through September 30th 2013 none were received due to lack thereof from either party majorities present at respective Village Council Sessions during that time frame coupled with another upcoming legislative session pendulously calling for increased funding allocation earmarked specifically for schools within every I-94 corridor municipality without corresponding increase in taxation rates levied against incorporated municipalities within that corridor thereby undermining future annexations proposals initiated or championed byVillage Leaders seeking selfless representation thru Town Government's responsiveness thereto rather than property taxes being supplanted completely (& indirectly) inline with City Government services & revenue allocations granted therein) resulting effectively providing Neighborhood Extension Boards - essentially Community Development Commissions appointed representatively via Neighborhood Extension Committees comprised exclusively & primarily resident voices owning contiguous real estate situated adjacent directly outside Township boundaries bounded as they are westwardly nearly paralleling just outside Twinburg Township limits forming approximately 0.3% slice out Outermost portion lying closest to Municipality boundary less than 3 miles wide

Minnetonka, Minnesota is a small town located in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The population was 9,852 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hennepin County. Minnetonka was founded in 1854 by Norwegian immigrants and became a hamlet until it became a municipality in 1903. The original name for the town, Nissen, means "New Place" in Norwegian and was chosen because of its location on the newly created Minneapolis-St. Paul Railroad line. The Town Hall is an historical building that has been used as a courthouse and municipal offices since 1903. A number of businesses have been located in the building over the years including Krogsvedt's grocery store which closed down in 1992 but reopened as a brewpub in 2009. The first post office opened in Minnetonka on October 1, 1854 and served until December 6th, 1861 when it moved to what is now called Third Street east of Center Avenue. The first schoolhouse was built on present day First Street west of Center Avenue around 1855 and remained operational until 1870 when it burned down due to weather conditions unrelated to any act or negligence by the school trustees or students/staff members concerned about fire safety issues during winter months leading up to Christmas eve celebrations at downtown Minneapolis (then known as “Christmas Village”). A new schoolhouse was built on First Street east of Center Avenue between 1870 and 1872; this structure also burned down but no records survive from this period indicating whether or not anyone were injured as a result. On January 1st, 1903, Minnetonka became one of two municipalities within Hennepin County when it merged with neighboring White Earth Township along with Bybee Township; these mergers creating what are now four separate townships within Hennepin County today with Minnetonka being its only remaining village status within that larger entity consisting of five municipalities plus White Earth Township combined into one statewide entity since 2003 - making Minnetonka one unique community amongst many throughout Minnesota! Today’s MINNETONKA Community Hospital operates out of three buildings erected after its opening date -Historic First Presbyterian Church (1899), Second Baptist Church (1936) & Third United Methodist Church (1964) - all situated adjacent to each other just south of current day Main Street on Third Avenue! Additionally there are numerous restaurants scattered throughout various parts of town including several open air cafes / pubs which offer live music nightly outside during summer months! In addition thereto there are golf courses located throughout central MN such as attempted relocation from Duluth center after devastating tornado damage back in 2011 followed by construction beginning later that year utilizing money raised through local sponsorships while still taking place under their old name & address following extensive public feedbackfeedback regarding concerns regarding how&where exactly these courses would be relocated given their physical proximity to densely populated Downtown Minneapolis!! Finally there is significant amounts invested into redeveloping & renovating several surrounding neighborhoods totaling more than $100MUSD thus far having resulted countless jobs creating much needed economic stability & diversity both inside & outside our historic community!!!
