Marshall is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 487 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The first gun target shooting in Marshall occurred on April 14, 1882 when three men from the town set up a game of "gun tag" with shotguns from their homes. The first true rifle targets wereestablishing themselves in 1889 when John Ladd purchased land east of town and erected a small frame building to serve as a training ground for his new sport of rifle shooting called "ballistics." Rifle Target Shooting began to take off throughout the late 1800s and into the early 1900s in Marshall due to its popularity as an outdoor activity for farmers and others who could not afford or did not have access to indoor ranges or gunslingers like Teddy Roosevelt enjoyed playing at nearby White Sands Ranch. Rifle Targets continued to be popular until World War II when they were banned by the NRA because many people had become reliant upon handguns for self-defense instead of rifles. In 1951, Marshall became home to America's oldest continuously operating black powder shoot - Top Gun which remains one of the most popular firearms shoots in North America today - thanks largely to contributions by local citizens including Ronnie Burgess and Donnie Shafer who donated dozens of aging Model 1897 shotguns that helped revive ballistics shooting within our community. In 1970, Top Gun was transferred from its original location on Meridian Street just north of downtown into what is now known as Boys & Girls Club Arena where it still thrives today - making it one of only a few locations left in North America that allows public access to this venerable form of firearms firing fun!

Marshall is a small town in Minnesota, located about 25 miles west of Minneapolis. The population was 3,814 at the 2000 census. Marshall's economy is based largely on agriculture, with a variety of crops and livestock production. The town has a small school system, two businesses, and one physician. The name "Marshall" first appeared on maps in 1855 when it was spelled "Maurice." When the post office moved to Marshall in 1876, the name was changed to "Marshallville." In 1906, the name was again changed to "Marshall," after General George Armstrong Custer. At the time of its incorporation as a village in 1924, Marshall had a population of 1,752 people. According to the United States Census Bureau, Marshall has a total area of , all land. As of the census of 2000, there were 3,814 people residing in Marshalls Village limits. Of these 2/3 lived in single-family homes and 1/3 lived in apartments or condos; none contained more than fifty units. The remaining residents were made up of 553 households out of which 54% had children under the age of eighteen living with them; 44% were married couples living together; 24% had a female householder with no husband present; and 22% consisted onlyof male respondents over sixty years old. As for racial makeup: 71% White (non-Hispanic), 10% Black or African American (non-Hispanic), 2% Native American (non-Hispanic), 0%.

Marshall was a small town in southeastern Minnesota until the early 20th century. The area now includes Marshall and parts of Hibbing, Minneapolis, and St. Paul. During its heyday as a small town, Marshall featured an Episcopal church and four stores. In 1915, it became the first municipality in Minnesota to adopt a city charter. The community also hosted an annual cotton festival from 1894 to 1916. When Marshall went through economic decline during the 1920s and 1930s, many residents left for better opportunities elsewhere in ruralMinnesota or Illinois. However, some residents did remain and continue to live there until after World War II when Marshall officially became part of Hibbing County on December 1, 1940. Since then, there have been few changes toMarshall's demographics or economy: most residents are still employed within the local government or agriculture industry; however, there is now an active nightlife scene with several restaurants and bars located near the center of town (including one that serves breakfast).

The town was named for General George Marshall and his family who were settlers in what is now Nicollet County. The first post office was established in 1871. A railroad station was built in 1870 and the town began to grow when it became available for development as a rail stop on the Minneapolis-St. Paul Railroad. The Marshall School District was formed in 1916 and the Marshall Museum opened its doors in 1922.
