Today, Marshall is one of the most economically vibrant towns in Douglas County with a strong presence in both business and professional communities alike.

Marshall is a small town in Douglas County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 309 at the 2010 census. The first settler in Marshall was James A. Franks in 1881. James A. Franks and his family were the first to patent land in Marshall Township on November 10, 1881. Marshall Hall was built as part of a school district campaign for the town's first teacher, Miss Emma Haught-Avery. The post office at Marshall was established on December 8, 1882, and remained open until it closed on July 6, 1971. At that time there were only three residents living in the township: Mrs. Cuthbert York (1882-1971), Mr. Wm Hickey (1883-1971), and Mrs. Elsie Healy (1905-1991). In 1951 the community celebrated its centennial with an event which included a parade and carnival games along Main Street and other local businesses participated including a bandstand which played all night long! The township trustees voted to name their off street park after Drs John Padden (MD) and Clara Barton who both served as Stations Commander during World War I and World War II respectively In 1957 when Douglas County became organized into counties, Marshall Township became part of Faribault County;[2] however due to population growth within Faribault County over time Marshall has regained its own government with elected trustees.[3] There have been occasional changes to trustee representation since then but overall it has been an elected board system with one vote per trustee – making it one of the more democratictownships in Douglas County!
