During World War II, many Marshallians worked on munitions plants around the Twin Cities region or else joined forces with other areas fighting in Europe as part of lend-lease programs that allowed United States citizens to enlist in military service without fear of draft evasion or retribution from Axis allies like Germany or Italy. Some members even managed to maintain long careers beyond their military service by working for various businesses post-war until they retired at 70 years old or older!
